A NEW GENUS AND TWO NEW SPECIES OF THE ORDER TANAIDACEA FOUND AT SETO [PDF]

open access: yes, 1952
In two of my previous papers (SHINO, 1951, 1951a), I reported five species of the Tanaid crustaceans occurred in the shore waters at Seto. Here I describe three more species which have been added to my collection from this locality afterwards.

Stanford’s naaldkreeftje - Sinelobus stanfordi.

Faunal Composition of the Sumisu Caldera Hydrothermal Vent Field as a Key Baseline for Conservation in Light of Deep‐Sea Mining

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 34, Issue 11, November 2024.
ABSTRACT Hydrothermal vents are biodiversity hotspots on the deep seafloor powered by chemosynthetic primary production, inhabited by a specially adapted fauna whose composition varies between regions. Sumisu Caldera, located approximately 500 km south of Tokyo, hosts a hot vent with an unusual species composition among the Izu–Ogasawara Arc sites and ...

Ship hull fouling in the port of Recife, Pernambuco

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oceanography, 2007
Ports of big coastal cities are exposed to exotic species as a consequence of shipping traffic. As the Port of Recife receives an annual average of 491 ships from other regions of Brazil and from all over the world, this work was aimed at knowing which ...

Benthic trophic interactions in an Antarctic shallow water ecosystem affected by recent glacier retreat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The western Antarctic Peninsula is experiencing strong environmental changes as a consequence of ongoing regional warming. Glaciers in the area are retreating rapidly and increased sediment-laden meltwater runoff threatens the benthic biodiversity at ...

Body size mediates trophic interaction strength of novel fish assemblages under climate change

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 93, Issue 6, Page 705-714, June 2024.
We show how body size similarity between range‐extending tropical and sympatric temperate fishes in a global hotspot of climate warming mediates their degree of diet similarity. Our results suggest a strengthening of these novel trophic interactions as warming is set to further reduce body size differences between these species.

Dietary partitioning among three cryptobenthic reef fish mesopredators revealed by visual analysis, metabarcoding of gut content, and stable isotope analysis

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 6, Issue 2, March–April 2024.
This study provides the first evidence of dietary partitioning of three common pseudochromid species in the Red Sea using a combination of (i) visual stomach content analysis, (ii) stomach content DNA metabarcoding (18S, COI), and (iii) stable isotope analysis (δ15N, δ13C). Our results revealed that Pseudochromis flavivertex, P.

Coastal wetland restoration through the lens of Odum's theory of ecosystem development

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 32, Issue 3, March 2024.
Advancing ecological restoration assessments requires a more detailed consideration of species interactions and ecosystem processes. Most restoration projects rely on a few metrics not always directly linked with ecological theory. Here, we used Odum's theory of ecosystem development to assess and compare the ecosystem structure and services of created
