Moments in Tandem Queues

Operations Research, 1998
We settle a conjecture concerning necessary conditions for finite mean steady-state customer delay at the second node of a tandem queue, using as an example a stable tandem queue with mutually independent i.i.d. interarrival and service times. We assume that the service times have infinite variance at the first node, finite variance at the second node,

Triplets in Tandem

Journal of Electrocardiology
An elderly gentleman with ischemic cardiomyopathy with severe left ventricular dysfunction presented with acute decompensated heart failure and recurrent ventricular tachycardia which were cardioverted to sinus rhythm and put on amiodarone infusion.

CONVEXITY IN TANDEM QUEUES

Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2004
We derive convexity results and related properties for the value functions of tandem queuing systems. The results for standard multiserver queues are new. For completeness, we also prove and generalize existing results on tandems of controllable queues. The results can be used to compare queuing systems.

Tandem Repeats

2013
Tandem repeats constitute a consistent fraction of eukaryotic genomes and are given by monomers or gene clusters repeated in a head-to-tail direction. Main examples are represented by microsatellites, minisatellites, satellites, rDNA genes, and protein-coding genes.

Orthogonal tandem catalysis

Nature Chemistry, 2015
Tandem catalysis is a growing field that is beginning to yield important scientific and technological advances toward new and more efficient catalytic processes. 'One-pot' tandem reactions, where multiple catalysts and reagents, combined in a single reaction vessel undergo a sequence of precisely staged catalytic steps, are highly attractive from the ...

Tandem Plasmapheresis and Hemodialysis

Therapeutic Apheresis, 2001
Abstract: Many patients requiring plasmapheresis (PE) have renal failure and also need hemodialysis. If done separately almost 6–7 h is required. Hence, we decided to perform the procedures simultaneously in those patients requiring both PE and hemodialysis. The plasmafilter was inserted into the extracorporeal circuit after the hemodialyzer.
