Tandem Repeats

2013
Tandem repeats constitute a consistent fraction of eukaryotic genomes and are given by monomers or gene clusters repeated in a head-to-tail direction. Main examples are represented by microsatellites, minisatellites, satellites, rDNA genes, and protein-coding genes.

CONVEXITY IN TANDEM QUEUES

Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2004
We derive convexity results and related properties for the value functions of tandem queuing systems. The results for standard multiserver queues are new. For completeness, we also prove and generalize existing results on tandems of controllable queues. The results can be used to compare queuing systems.

The Tandem Occlusion

2021
Depending on the population studied, large vessel anterior circulation acute ischemic strokes with concomitant extracranial internal carotid artery tandem occlusions constitute 10–25% of cases presenting for consideration for endovascular therapy. Leaving them untreated or treating them with IV-tPA only portends to poor clinical outcomes for this ...

Orthogonal tandem catalysis

Nature Chemistry, 2015
Tandem catalysis is a growing field that is beginning to yield important scientific and technological advances toward new and more efficient catalytic processes. 'One-pot' tandem reactions, where multiple catalysts and reagents, combined in a single reaction vessel undergo a sequence of precisely staged catalytic steps, are highly attractive from the ...

The Tandem and the Crisis

Journal of Communist Studies and Transition Politics, 2011
Unlike his predecessor Vladimir Putin, Dmitrii Medvedev had relatively little success in promoting his own supporters to leading positions. His meetings with defence and security officials took place less frequently, and were more highly formalized; he met key economic ministers less often than his predecessor, and continued to meet them irregularly ...

The Tandem Dynamitron

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1969
A two-stage tandem accelerator system, powered by a Dynamitron high voltage generator, is currently undergoing factory tests. The parallel-coupled, cascaded-rectifier generator has been designed for a 5 mA current capability at maximum guaranteed voltage for future high current operation.

Tandem Plasmapheresis and Hemodialysis

Therapeutic Apheresis, 2001
Abstract: Many patients requiring plasmapheresis (PE) have renal failure and also need hemodialysis. If done separately almost 6–7 h is required. Hence, we decided to perform the procedures simultaneously in those patients requiring both PE and hemodialysis. The plasmafilter was inserted into the extracorporeal circuit after the hemodialyzer.

Crossbar Tandem System

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1950
THE RAPID mechanization of the local telephone plant throughout the Bell System, together with the continuous expansion of subscriber dialing areas, has made necessary the development of an automatic tandem system having many new features not available in former tandem systems.
