Research on Flow-Induced Vibration and Energy Harvesting of Three Circular Cylinders with Roughness Strips in Tandem

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The flow-induced vibration (FIV) of multiple cylinders is a common phenomenon in industry and nature. The FIV and energy harvesting of three circular cylinders in tandem are numerically studied by 2D-URANS simulations in Reynolds number range of 30,000 ...

The Sobering Reality of Perovskite/Si Tandem Solar Cells under Realistic Operating Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Perovskite/Si tandem solar cells have the potential to considerably out-perform conventional solar cells. Under standard test conditions, perovskite/Si tandem solar cells already outperform the Si single junction. Under realistic conditions, however, as we show, those tandem solar cells are hardly more efficient than the Si cell alone.

The Effects of Lengths of Flavin Surfactant N-10-Alkyl Side Chains on Promoting Dispersion of a High-Purity and Diameter-Selective Single-Walled Nanotube

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Flavin with defined helical self-assembly helps to understand chemical designs for obtaining high-purity semiconducting (s)-single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) in a diameter (dt)-selective manner for high-end applications.

Impact of Tandem Repeats on the Scaling of Nucleotide Sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Techniques such as detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and its extensions have been widely used to determine the nature of scaling in nucleotide sequences. In this brief communication we show that tandem repeats which are ubiquitous in nucleotide sequences can prevent reliable estimation of possible long-range correlations.

Identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of ETS transcription factors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
ETS transcription factors play an essential role in tumourigenesis and are indispensable for sprouting angiogenesis, a hallmark of cancer, which fuels tumour expansion and dissemination. Thus, targeting ETS transcription factor function could represent an effective, multifaceted strategy to block tumour growth. The evolutionarily conserved E‐Twenty‐Six

Comparing optical performance of a wide range of perovskite/silicon tandem architectures under real-world conditions

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
Since single junction c-Si solar cells are reaching their practical efficiency limit. Perovskite/c-Si tandem solar cells hold the promise of achieving greater than 30% efficiencies.

Opening and Closing in Tandem

open access: yesJACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, 2016
The rationale and sequencing of opening and closing structures has been well studied in mechanical sciences and disciplines. The report by Attinger-Toller et al. [(1)][1] in this issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions extends this conversation to the specific medical field of aortic stenosis (

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.
