Tandem duplications in Drosophila melanogaster II. Meiotic pairing and exchange in heterozygous tandem duplications

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1975
In heterozygous females of tandem duplication Dp(1; 1) Gr, y(2) (w(-)spl sn(3)) (w(c) sn(3)) the frequency and distribution of exchange events were measured by the phenotypically different F1 recombinants. In comparison with wild type chromosomes the crossover values were strongly reduced within the heterozygous chromosome sections (between white and ...

Reconstructing the duplication history of a tandem repeat.

Proceedings. International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology, 2000
One of the less well understood mutational transformations that act upon DNA is tandem duplication. In this process, a stretch of DNA is duplicated to produce two or more adjacent copies, resulting in a tandem repeat. Over time, the copies undergo additional mutations so that typically, multiple approximate tandem copies are present.

Tandem duplication of proximal 5q.

Annales de genetique, 1991
A 3.5-year-old boy with a de novo tandem duplication 5q11.1----5q15 is reported. Since the physical stigmata of seven liveborn cases with 5q proximal duplications are variable and inconspicuous, a recognizable syndrome could not be delineated. On the contrary, the associated developmental delay seems to be severe in duplications extending into 5q22 and

A Similarity Measure between Tandem Duplication Trees

2007
This paper opens the gate to understanding the nature of unequal crossing-over process, which is one of the mechanisms that leads to creation of new genes. The Data Mining and Tree Mining approaches are being modified to fit that particular biological problem.

Efficient Methods for Inferring Tandem Duplication History

2002
In this paper, we study the problem of inferring duplication history of a tandem gene family using the duplication model proposed by Tang et al.. We provide an efficient algorithm for inferring a duplication model for a given set of (gene) sequences by combining a linear-time algorithm, which is for determining whether a rooted tree is associated with ...

Detection of tandem duplications and implications for linkage analysis.

American journal of human genetics, 1994
The first demonstration of an autosomal dominant human disease caused by segmental trisomy came in 1991 for Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A). For this disorder, the segmental trisomy is due to a large tandem duplication of 1.5 Mb of DNA located on chromosome 17p11.2-p12.
