A Linear Time Algorithm for Finding Tandem Repeat in DNA Sequences
Proceedings of the 2019 7th International Conference on Information Technology: IoT and Smart City, 2019Tandem repeats cause several genetic diseases in humans and play an essential role in DNA fingerprinting for paternity analysis, forensic investigations, tracing the evolution of populations, and disease diagnosis. However, the process of tandem repeat detection in DNA sequences takes time and requires significant computational memory.

Sequence variation of a hypervariable short tandem repeat at the D12S391 locus
Gene, 1996A short tandem repeat (STR) in the D12S391 locus was sequenced in more than 40 individuals. Twenty different alleles were found and these could be grouped into 12 allelic classes in accordance with the total number of repeats. This is a compound STR consisting of blocks of (AGAT) and (AGAC) repeats with basic sequence structure (AGAT)8-17(AGAC)6-10 ...

Massive parallel sequencing of short tandem repeats in the Korean population
ELECTROPHORESIS, 2018AbstractSTR analysis using capillary electrophoresis has been the most widely used method for forensic DNA typing. Recently, massive parallel sequencing (MPS) technique has been emerging as an innovative tool to supplement or replace the conventional CE process. In this study, we evaluated the application of commercial MiSeqFGx™ forensic signature kit (

Sequence variation of a variable short tandem repeat at the D18S535 locus
International Journal of Legal Medicine, 1998A short tandem repeat in the D18S535 locus was sequenced in 25 selected alleles. A total of 8 different alleles were found which can be designated according to the total number of repeats. This STR is a simple hypervariable STR consisting of blocks of (GATA) repeats with a basic sequence structure (GATA)1(GACA)1(GATA)1 (GAT)1(GATA)9-16. Population data

The molecular organization of the lysostaphin gene and its sequences repeated in tandem
Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1987The gene encoding lysostaphin of Staphylococcus staphylolyticus was cloned in Escherichia coli and its DNA sequence was determined. The complete coding region comprises 1440 base pairs corresponding to a precursor of 480 amino acids (molecular weight 51 669).

Detection of Tandem Repeats in DNA Sequences Based on Parametric Spectral Estimation
IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, 2009Tandem repeats, which occur frequently in genomes, are related to gene regulatory functions and various diseases. In this paper, an efficient algorithm for tandem repeat detection is proposed. In our method, the spectrogram of a DNA sequence is analyzed based on the autoregressive model.
