Conserving the evolutionary history of birds

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 6, December 2023., 2023
Abstract In the midst of the sixth mass extinction, limited resources are forcing conservationists to prioritize which species and places will receive conservation action. Evolutionary distinctiveness measures the isolation of a species on its phylogenetic tree.

Early meteorological records from Corrientes and Bahía Blanca, Argentina: Initial ACRE‐Argentina data rescue and related activities

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 10, Issue 3, Page 328-346, July 2023., 2023
Weather observations transcribed from the original records of ‘Anales de la Oficina Meteorológica Nacional’ and taken every hour during the years 1860–1879 at Bahía Blanca and from 1873–1886 at Corrientes, are presented. The digitization was carried out through the project Meteorologum ad Extremum Terrae (MET) launched in the Zooniverse interface ...

An In‐depth Benchmarking of Evolutionary and Swarm Intelligence Algorithms for Autoscaling Parameter Sweep Applications on Public Clouds

open access: yesScientific Programming, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Many important computational applications in science, engineering, industry, and technology are represented by PSE (parameter sweep experiment) applications. These applications involve a large number of resource‐intensive and independent computational tasks. Because of this, cloud autoscaling approaches have been proposed to execute PSE applications on

Human disturbances affect the topology of food webs

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 25, Issue 11, Page 2476-2488, November 2022., 2022
We predict that food webs with scale‐free degree distributions should be favourably selected by random disturbances (in regions less disturbed by human pressure) while food webs with random degree distributions would be associated with targeted disturbances (in areas with more human pressure).

Mapping soil depth in southern pampas Argentina using ancillary data and statistical learning

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 86, Issue 1, Page 65-78, January/February 2022., 2022
Abstract Restrictive layers such as hardpans limit the soil water and nutrients available for crops. In the southern Argentinean pampas, petrocalcic hardpans are found at variable depth within the field. Mapping the spatial distribution of depth to the petrocalcic hardpan is important for proper land evaluation, use, and management.
