Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Status and concerns for glyphosate resistance [PDF]
Glyphosate resistance was first reported in 1996 from rigid ryegrasss in an orchard in Australia. Subsequently, several additional glyphosate-resistant weed populations have been identified: rigid ryegrass in a wheat production system in Australia and in

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

First record of target-site-resistance of poverty brome (Bromus sterilis) to ACCase inhibitors
In 2011 reduced efficacy of grass weed herbicides to poverty brome (Bromus sterilis) was observed in oilseed rape on a site in East Hessen. The field was cultivated by using the ploughless tillage system more than 25 years. The site showed high densities

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Aptamer Displacement Identifies Alternative Small-Molecule Target Sites that Escape Viral Resistance
Aptamers targeting reverse transcriptase (RT) from HIV-1 inhibit viral replication in vitro, presumably by competing with binding of the primer/template complex. This site is not targeted by the currently available small-molecule anti-HIV-1 RT inhibitors.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

CRISPR/Cas Technology in Insect Insecticide Resistance
Chemicals and biological insecticides play a crucial role as pest management strategies in modern agriculture and forestry. However, their excessive and unreasonable use inevitably leads to varying degrees of resistance among insect populations, which ...
