Nonparametric Target Detection with Target Strength Estimation for Hyperspectral Images

open access: yesIGARSS 2019 - 2019 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2019
This work presents a novel target detector that combines a nonparametric approach for conditional probability density function (pdf) estimation and an adaptive estimation of the target strength of the additive model it is based on. The variable bandwidth kernel density estimator is employed for pdf estimation within the Generalized Likelihood Ratio ...

Target strength in oceanic waveguides

Acoustical Physics, 2015
The structure of the target strength in oceanic waveguides is analyzed. The role of the target strength is discussed as one of the key parameters for designing and estimating the efficiency of promising underwater observation systems.

Target Strength of a Single Fish

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1970
Measurements of the target strength of a single fish, species Ictiobus bubalus, over the frequency range from 50 to 470 kHz are presented and compared with estimated values calculated using an empirical relation recently derived by Love. The present measurements reveal an optimum frequency for detecting this fish.

Target strength of spherical reflectors

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
The homogeneous and Morgan lenses [J. Appl. Phys. 29, 1358 (1958)], 9.0 cm in diameter, are constructed by molding the mixture of RTV silicon rubber and zinc or nylon powder in the form of sphere. The sound velocity of such a composite material is a function of the concentration of the mixture.

Target strength

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999
Chapter 9 of Urick’s Principles of Underwater Sound is titled ‘‘Reflection and Scattering by Sonar Targets: Target Strength’’ [R. Urick, Principles of Underwater Sound (McGraw–Hill, New York, 1975), p. 263], and while this chapter gives an excellent review of target strength definitions, simple echo formation processes, and echo characteristics, it is ...

Wideband target strength measurements

ICASSP '76. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
The development of the Hydroshock®III impulsive sound source has allowed the collection of acoustic target strength data over a wide frequency range. Deconvolution of a shock-echo pair provides a wideband target impulse response. Convolution off this impulse response with any sonar ping whose spectrum is defined in the frequency range of the impulse ...
