Measurement of Diurnal Body Tilt Angle Distributions of Threeline Grunt Parapristipoma trilineatum Using Micro-Acceleration Data Loggers

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2013
The body tilt angle of a fish has a large effect on the acoustic target strength. For an accurate estimation of fish abundance using acoustic methods, it is necessary to measure body tilt angles in free-ranging fish.

Acoustic Scattering Analysis of Underwater Elastic Spherical Shell under Point Sound Source Incidence

open access: yes水下无人系统学报, 2023
In order to study the acoustic scattering of underwater targets, the conversion factor of plane wave and spherical wave of point sound source was calculated on the basis of the analytical solution of the classical Rayleigh normal series, combined with ...

Quantifying the strength of miRNA–target interactions

open access: yesMethods, 2015
We quantify the strength of miRNA-target interactions with MIRZA, a recently introduced biophysical model. We show that computationally predicted energies of interaction correlate strongly with the energies of interaction estimated from biochemical measurements of Michaelis-Menten constants.

Effect of direct supervision of a strength coach on measures of muscular strength and power in young rugby league players [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The purpose of the present study was to examine the influence of direct supervision on muscular strength, power, and running speed during 12 weeks of resistance training in young rugby league players. Two matched groups of young (16.7 ± 1.1 years [mean ±

Acoustic Scattering Characteristics of Underwater Eight-grid Air-filled Cavity Corner Reflector

open access: yes水下无人系统学报, 2022
Underwater corner reflectors have a strong acoustic scattering ability and can be used to mark underwater structures and simulate underwater false targets. In accordance with the limitation of the reflection range of a single-grid corner reflector, a new

Improving the Accuracy of Krill Target Strength Using a Shape Catalog

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2021
Antarctic krill are subject to precautionary catch limits, based on biomass estimates, to ensure human activities do not adversely impact their important ecological role.

Impacts of Morphological Characteristics on Target Strength of Chub Mackerel (Scomber japonicus) in the Northwest Pacific Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
Chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) is an important commercial fish in the Northwest Pacific Ocean. Accurate target strength (TS) underpins acoustic stock assessment but the TS of S. japonicus is still poorly understood.

Estimation of the Coefficients of the Equation of Acoustic Target Strength Based on the Morphology of Coregonus migratorius (Georgi, 1775) Swim Bladder

open access: yesЮг России: экология, развитие, 2020
Aim. The aim of the study was to estimate the coefficients of the equation TSmax=f(SL) considering the characteristics of an acoustic scattering model based on the morphological characteristics of the swim bladder of the Coregonus migratorius (Georgi ...

SWIMBLADDER ON FISH TARGET STRENGTH

open access: yesTELKOMNIKA (Telecommunication Computing Electronics and Control), 2008
This paper discusses of Target Strength (TS) for the Selar boops (Oxeye scad) and Megalaspis cordyla (Torpedo scad), the most commercially fish in Malaysia. TS can be determined from in situ measurements and calculation using acoustic fish model. TS value, depth, and position (x-y-z) of fish targeted can be viewed from echogram using FQ-80 Analyzer by ...

Quantification of Chaoborus and small fish by mobile upward-looking echosounding

open access: yesJournal of Limnology, 2018
Chaoborus larvae inhabit frequently the water column of lakes, when they can be mistaken for small fish. Because larvae ascend up to the blind zone of downward-looking echo sounding at night, quantitative acoustic estimation of them is possible only with
