Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Transjugular liver biopsy: how good is it for accurate histological interpretation? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background: A transjugular liver biopsy (TJLB) specimen is often smaller or more fragmented than a percutaneous liver biopsy (PLB) specimen. Recently, for PLB, the minimum requirements to evaluate chronic hepatitis have been set at 20–25 mm length and 11

SIU-ICUD: Comprehensive Imaging in Prostate Cancer—A Focus on MRI and Micro-Ultrasound

open access: yesSociété Internationale d’Urologie Journal
Background/Objectives: The diagnostic approach to prostate cancer (PCa) has evolved from systematic biopsies to imaging-guided strategies that improve detection of clinically significant PCa (csPCa) while reducing overdiagnosis.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Comparison of software vs. cognitive‐based fusion‐targeted biopsies for prostate cancer diagnosis

open access: yesBJUI Compass
Objectives This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of software‐based fusion‐targeted biopsies (STBx) versus cognitive fusion‐targeted biopsies (CogTBx) in detecting prostate cancer (PCa) and clinically significant PCa.

The number of involved regions by prostate adenocarcinoma predicts histopathology concordance between radical prostatectomy specimens and MRI/ultrasound-fusion targeted prostate biopsy

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
IntroductionThe prostate biopsy (PB) results should be concordant with prostatectomy histopathology to avoid overestimating or underestimating the disease, leading to inappropriate or undertreatment of prostate cancer (PCa) patients.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance imaging fusion-guided biopsy for the diagnosis of prostate cancer: current status [PDF]

open access: yesDigital Diagnostics
This review explains the role of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging, particularly in prostate biopsy, in the detection of prostate cancer. The use of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of prostate cancer has also allowed ...

Initial experience with a novel method for cognitive transperineal magnetic resonance imaging-targeted prostate biopsy

open access: yesAsian Journal of Andrology, 2020
A cognitive magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-targeted prostate biopsy conducted by an experienced clinician enhances the detection rate of (high-grade) prostate cancer; however, this method is less successful in the hands of inexperienced surgeons ...
