Do Elite Female Judokas Show Asymmetry in the Internal and External Rotators of the Shoulder? A One-Dimensional and Principal Component Approach

open access: yesBiomechanics
Background/Aims: Asymmetry of the internal (IR) and external (ER) shoulder rotators can increase the risk of injuries in judokas. Discrete analyses are usually performed in time series data, but they can have biases by removing trends, so other ...

Task Arithmetic in Trust Region: A Training-Free Model Merging Approach to Navigate Knowledge Conflicts [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Multi-task model merging offers an efficient solution for integrating knowledge from multiple fine-tuned models, mitigating the significant computational and storage demands associated with multi-task training. As a key technique in this field, Task Arithmetic (TA) defines task vectors by subtracting the pre-trained model ($\theta_{\text{pre}}$) from ...

A Hybrid Performance Analysis Technique for Distributed Real-Time Embedded Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
It remains a challenging problem to tightly estimate the worst case response time of an application in a distributed embedded system, especially when there are dependencies between tasks. We discovered that the state-of-the art techniques considering task dependencies either fail to obtain a conservative bound or produce a loose upper bound. We propose

Negation handling for sentiment analysis task: approaches and performance analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE)
Negation plays an essential role in sentiment analysis within natural language processing (NLP). Its integration involves two key aspects: identifying the scope of negation and incorporating this information into the sentiment model. Before delving into scope detection, the specific negation cue must be identified, with explicit and implicit negation ...

Adverse prognosis gene expression patterns in metastatic castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We aggregated a cohort of 1012 mCRPC tissue samples from 769 patients and investigated the association of gene expression‐based pathways with clinical outcomes. Loss of AR signaling, high proliferation, and a glycolytic phenotype were independently prognostic for poor outcomes, and an adverse transcriptional feature score incorporating these pathways ...

Investigation of independence in the tasks involving the use of public transportation in patients with subacute stroke

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation Medicine
Objective: To clarify the percentage of stroke patients who are independent in performing tasks involved in public transportation use and problems faced while doing so. Design: Single-institution retrospective study.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Temporal2Seq: A Unified Framework for Temporal Video Understanding Tasks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
With the development of video understanding, there is a proliferation of tasks for clip-level temporal video analysis, including temporal action detection (TAD), temporal action segmentation (TAS), and generic event boundary detection (GEBD). While task-specific video understanding models have exhibited outstanding performance in each task, there ...
