X-ray screening of donated wild game is insufficient to protect children from lead exposure

open access: yesDiscover Food
Worldwide hunters distribute game meat as a gesture of community bonding and as an essential nutritional resource for those facing food insecurity, especially among children and adolescents.

LHC tau-pair production constraints on $a_\tau$ and $d_\tau$

open access: yesSciPost Physics
We point out that relevant constraints on the anomalous magnetic (a_\tauaτ) and electric (d_\taudτ) moment of the tau lepton can be derived from tau-pair production measurements performed at the LHC. Our conclusion is based on the observation that the leading relative deviations from the Standard Model prediction for pp \to \tau^+ \tau^-pp→τ+τ− due to ...

Library of anomalous tau-tau-gamma couplings for tau+ tau- (n gamma) Monte Carlo programs

open access: yes, 1999
We briefly describe a library that may be used with any e+ e- --> tau+ tau- (n gamma) Monte Carlo program to account for the effects of anomalous tau-tau-gamma couplings. The implementation of this library in KORALZ version 4.04 is discussed.

Design of Multiphase Compositionally Complex Alloys for Enhanced Hardness at Elevated Temperatures and Machinability: Comparative Study with Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study compares the mechanical properties of Inconel 718 with two newly developed compositionally complex alloys (CCAs). Inco‐like‐H alloy demonstrates significantly improved wear resistance, surface finish, and hardness, notably at high temperatures. This CCA requires no heat treatment and is well suited for additive manufacturing. Its performance

Machine Learning‐Based Design of 3D‐Printable Microneedles for Enhanced Tissue Anchoring with Reduced Tissue Damage

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A machine learning‐driven framework is introduced to optimize 3D‐printable microneedles for enhanced tissue anchoring and reduced insertion damage. The optimized design achieves a 6.0‐fold improvement in pull‐out‐to‐penetration energy ratio over conventional shapes.

UNA MENTE GENEROSA PARA UN MUNDO SISTÉMICO

open access: yesTendencias, 2013
El sistema se ha transformado, desde su formalización (Bertanlanfy, 1968), en un instrumento clave en el quehacer de muchas disciplinas. No obstante, el sentido de la utilización del concepto de sistema que ha dominado en la actividad científica ha sido ...

SORL1 is a receptor for tau that promotes tau seeding

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry
Sortilin-related receptor 1 (SORL1) is an intracellular sorting receptor genetically implicated in Alzheimer's disease (AD) that impacts amyloid precursor protein trafficking. The objective of these studies was to test the hypothesis that SORL1 binds tau, modulates its cellular trafficking and impacts the aggregation of cytoplasmic tau induced by ...

Evaluation Strategies of Hil48 Yield Criterion in Application: Toward Sufficient and Necessary Conditions for Prediction of Plastic Anisotropy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the intrinsic relationships and applicability of Hill48 yield criterion. The applicability and error evaluation conditions for Hill48 are established based on specific experimental data. A parameter calibration strategy for N‐value based on error minimization is proposed, and the predictive accuracy is ...
