Aβ42 promotes the aggregation of α‐synuclein splice isoforms via heterogeneous nucleation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aggregation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and α‐synuclein (αSyn) is associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This study reveals that Aβ aggregates serve as potent nucleation sites for the aggregation of αSyn and its splice isoforms, shedding light on the intricate interplay between these two pathogenic proteins.

First Observation of $\tau\to 3\pi\eta\nu_{\tau}$ and $\tau\to f_{1}\pi\nu_{\tau}$ Decays

open access: yes, 1997
We have observed new channels for $\tau$ decays with an $\eta$ in the final state. We study 3-prong tau decays, using the $\eta\to\gamma\gamma$ and $\eta\to 3\piz$ decay modes and 1-prong decays with two $\piz$'s using the $\eta\to\gamma\gamma$ channel ...

Acetyl-L-carnitine improves pain, nerve regeneration, and vibratory perception in patients with chronic diabetic neuropathy

open access: yesНервно-мышечные болезни, 2015
Objective — we evaluated frozen databases from two 52‑week randomized placebocontrolled clinical diabetic neuropathy trials testing two doses of acetyl-l-carnitine (alc): 500 and 1,000 mg / day t. i.

Redox‐dependent binding and conformational equilibria govern the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in living cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this work, we reveal how different enzyme binding configurations influence the fluorescence decay of NAD(P)H in live cells using time‐resolved anisotropy imaging and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Mathematical modelling shows that the redox states of the NAD and NADP pools govern these configurations, shaping their fluorescence ...

Raphin‐1 mediates the survival and sensitivity to radiation of pediatric‐type diffuse high‐grade glioma via phosphorylated eukaryotic initiation factor 2α‐dependent and ‐independent processes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Raphin‐1 reduces the survival of PED‐DHGG cells and enhances their radiation sensitivity through both PeIF2α‐dependent and PeIF2α‐independent mechanisms. Raphin‐1 sustains elevated levels of PeIF2α, contributing to its PeIF2α‐dependent effects. Additionally, raphin‐1 interacts with CReP to mediate a separate radiosensitizing pathway that operates ...

Promoting tau secretion and propagation by hyperactive p300/CBP via autophagy-lysosomal pathway in tauopathy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
BackgroundThe trans-neuronal propagation of tau has been implicated in the progression of tau-mediated neurodegeneration. There is critical knowledge gap in understanding how tau is released and transmitted, and how that is dysregulated in diseases ...

$\tau$- and $\mu$-physics in a general two Higgs doublet model with $\mu-\tau$ flavor violation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Motivated by the recent CMS excess in a flavor violating Higgs decay $h \rightarrow \mu \tau$ as well as the anomaly of muon anomalous magnetic moment (muon g-2), we consider a scenario where both the excess in $h \rightarrow \mu \tau$ and the anomaly of

Acetyl-L-carnitine flux to lipids in cells estimated using isotopomer spectral analysis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1997
Acetyl-L-carnitine is known as a reservoir of activated acetyl units and as a modulator of metabolic function. The objective of this study was to quantify the fate of the acetyl moiety of acetyl-L-carnitine in lipogenic pathways.
