The paclitaxel (TAXOL); Bristol-Myers Squibb Company) represents first agent from novel class of antineoplastic drugs--taxanes to enter routine clinical practice. Paclitaxel interferes with microtubular polymerization by promoting abnormal assembly of microtubules and inhibiting their subsequent disassembly.
