Block Copolymers: Emerging Building Blocks for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review addresses how block copolymer (BCP) physics and rheology have led to the widespread use of BCPs in advanced additive manufacturing techniques, with particular emphasis on the untapped potential of these nanostructured materials toward achieving multi‐scale architected materials with unique, programmable material properties.

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Beyond Linear Fields: the Lie-Taylor Expansion

open access: yes, 2016
The work extends the linear fields' solution of compressible nonlinear magnetohydrodynamics~(MHD) to the case where the magnetic field depends on superlinear powers of position vector, usually but not always, expressed in Cartesian components ...

The Cuttlebone Blueprint for Multifunctional Metamaterials: Design Taxonomy, Functional Decoupling, and Future Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cuttlebone‐inspired metamaterials exploit a septum‐wall architecture to achieve excellent mechanical and functional properties. This review classifies existing designs into direct biomimetic, honeycomb‐type, and strut‐type architectures, summarizes governing design principles, and presents a decoupled design framework for interpreting multiphysical ...

Effective solution of nonlinear DAEs problems using Taylor series method

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
Most methods for solving ordinary differential equations use a limited order to calculate the results. The higher-order method based on the Taylor series presented in this article can use as many terms of the Taylor series as necessary to obtain a stable

Universal Taylor series [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de l'Institut Fourier, 1996
We strengthen a result of Chui and Parnes and we prove that the set of universal Taylor series is a G δ -dense subset of the space of holomorphic functions defined in the open unit disc. Our result provides the answer to a question stated by S.K. Pichorides concerning the limit set of Taylor series.

Analysis of Algorithms for Velocity Estimation from Discrete Position Versus Time Data [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Algorithms for constructing velocity approximations from discrete position versus time data are investigated. The study is limited to algorithms suitable to provide velocity information in discrete-time feedback control systems such as microprocessor ...

A Mechanistic Study of Bio‐Based Nanotemplated Carbon Nanofibers Derived From Water Processable Lignin Blends for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
As‐spun carbon materials produced from Lignosulfonate, gelatin, and alginate, selected for water solubility, and ability to produce templated sustainable carbon nanostructures. Gelatin and alginate are sacrificial during thermal processing, allowing the production of engineered high surface area nanostructures, which are further characterized for ...

Pattern Formation in Non‐Equilibrium Architected Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This article demonstrates an artificial mechanical system ‐ a robotic metamaterial ‐ as an accessible and versatile platform within which to explore and prescribe the reaction‐diffusion driven pattern formation hitherto associated with comparatively less accessible and versatile non‐equilibrium biological and chemical systems.

On generalizations of the series of Taylor, Lagrange, Laurent and Teixeira

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1990
The classical theorems of Taylor, Lagrange, Laurent and Teixeira, are extended from the representation of a complex function F(z), to its derivative F(ν)(z) of complex order ν, understood as either a ‘Liouville’ (1832) or a ‘Rieman (1847 ...
