Optimized Asymmetrical Fuzzy‐2DOFTIDF Controller for LFC of Three‐Area Multi‐Sources Interconnected Power System Along With HAE‐FC and UPFC Using a New SOA Algorithm

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 866-886, February 2026.
This study proposes a novel Asymmetrical‐Fuzzy Two‐Degree‐of‐Freedom Tilt‐Integral‐Derivative (AF‐2DOF‐TIDF) controller for load frequency control in a multi‐area, multi‐source power system integrating Hydrogen‐Aqua‐Electrolyzer‐Fuel‐Cell (HAE‐FC) units and a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC).

The Sense of Smell (SoS) Atlas: Its Creation and First Application to Investigate COVID‐19 Related Anosmia With a Comprehensive Quantitative MRI Protocol

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 63, Issue 2, Page 574-593, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The loss of smell (anosmia) has been noted in numerous diseases, including COVID‐19. Inflammatory and microstructural alterations are possible underlying mechanisms of anosmia in COVID‐19. However, no atlas exists to study olfaction and the associated tissue property changes.

Therapeutic Effects of Noninvasive Electrical Stimulation in Combination Transplantation of Human Adipose‐Derived Stem Cells‐Derived Dopaminergic Neuron on the Monkey Model of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Our results showed that noninvasive electrical stimulation (NES) alone or in combination with human adipose‐derived stem cells (hADSCs)‐induced dopaminergic neuron (NES‐DN) improved the behavioral deficits and pathological features of the MPTP‐induced PD monkey model.

Engineering Hierarchically Nano‐Structured Cu Foams: Dynamic Hydrogen Bubble Templated Binder‐Free Freestanding Electrodes for Energy Applications

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 8, 6 February 2026.
The competition between H2 evolution (HER) and Cu electrodeposition during the dynamic hydrogen bubble templating (DHBT) crucially influences the synthesized foam morphology. Generally, when HER is dominating, numerous small H2 bubbles form, resulting in compact Cu foams.

Approach Motivation and Reward Sensitivity: Effects of High‐Definition Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (HD‐tDCS) to Brain Hemispheres on Effort‐Related Cardiovascular Response

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 3, February 2026.
Brain stimulation over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex affects effort‐related cardiovascular responses during a mental concentration task of unclear difficulty in presence of moderate incentives. Right cathodal stimulation leads to higher physiological effort compared to left cathodal and sham stimulation.

Beyond the Leaderboard: Evaluating the Robustness of Deep Learning Models for Detecting Freezing of Gait

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 3, February 2026.
We tested the transferability of the winning models from the freezing of gait (FOG) detection machine learning contest on Kaggle to new data. The third place model showed good transferability to structured, at home protocols, producing intraclass correlation values for FOG duration and percent time frozen that rival agreement between expert raters on ...

Transcranial photobiomodulation with near‐infrared laser induces analgesia in rats

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 3, Page 1391-1414, 1 February 2026.
Abstract figure legend Transcranial photobiomodulation (tPBM) with a 1064 nm laser alleviated pain. Local field potential (LFP) intensity markedly increased following formalin injection, indicating nociceptive activation. However, after tPBM, this formalin‐induced LFP hyperactivation was diminished. Meanwhile, tPBM preserved brain connectivity that was
