Multipath detection in TDOA localization scenarios

2012 Workshop on Sensor Data Fusion: Trends, Solutions, Applications (SDF), 2012
In this paper, we investigate the detection of multi-path signal propagation in a Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) localization scenario. Usually, TDOA measurements are obtained by determining the absolute maximum of the cross correlation function of signals recorded at different sensor nodes in a sensor network.

Clock Offsets in TDOA Localization

2006
Time based TDOA localization systems require time or clock synch-ronization between receivers such as cellular base stations, satellites, and sensor nodes. Imperfection of time synchronization causes degradation in positioning accuracy. However if we know about its characteristics and how to estimate the clock offsets, the localization system can be ...

VLC-TDOA Using Sinusoidal Pilot Signal

2013 International Conference on IT Convergence and Security (ICITCS), 2013
In this paper, we propose an indoor visible light positioning system which is based on time difference of arrival (TDOA). Compared to current TDOA which uses square wave for pilot signal, our system uses sinusoidal wave for pilot signal. Our proposed system is simulated in the room measuring 5×5×3m3.

Cooperative TDOA estimation with trigger relay

2011 IEEE 22nd International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2011
In this paper, we investigate the relaying issue of Zero-Padding (ZP) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technique to estimate Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) for locationing applications. In order to benefit from the easy processing of Amplify-and-Forward (AF) relay as well as the noise and interference cancellation of Decode-and ...

Distributed Tdoa-Based Indoor Source Localisation

2018 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2018
Indoor localisation is an important research topic with several possible applications. For example, knowing a user's location can be used as navigation aid in hospitals and malls, or for better targeted marketing. In this paper we consider the case where the environment of interest is equipped with several receivers (with known location) from which ...

Semidefinite Programming Methods for Alleviating Clock Synchronization Bias and Sensor Position Errors in TDOA Localization

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2020
This paper investigates the problem of source localization using signal time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) measurements in the presence of clock synchronization bias and sensor position errors.

Three Passive TDOA-AOA Receivers-Based Flying-UAV Positioning in Extreme Environments

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2020
In this paper, motivated by the fact that precisely positioning a flying unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) by passive radio frequency (RF) measurements are being troubled by the extreme non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments, we propose a 3D joint time ...

The majority principle in TDOA estimation

2010 8th International Conference on Communications, 2010
The time difference of arrival (TDOA) estimation as a particular time delay estimation (TDE) problem has many practical applications. One of them refers to leak detection and localization in fluid pipelines. This paper introduces the majority principle as a method to increase the probability of a correct localization of the leak, with important ...

A hybrid TDoA-ToA localization method

ICT 2013, 2013
One of the main advantages when comparing time over signal strength localization methods, is that the former do not require the creation of fingerprint databases. On the other hand, the majority of time based methods require some sort of clock synchronization due to the drifting of the local clocks.
