Coupled Tearing-Kink Modes and their Interactions with the Sawtooth Crash in HBT-EP [PDF]

open access: yes
This thesis reports observations of kink and tearing modes in the High Beta Tokamak - ExtendedPulse (HBT-EP) experiment. When unstable, these modes could limit the operation of tokamaks used for fusion power by terminating the plasma discharge and ...

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Threshold condition for nonlinear tearing modes in tokamaks

open access: yes, 1996
Low-mode-number tearing, mode nonlinear evolution is analyzed emphasizing the need for a threshold condition, to account for observations in tokamaks. The discussion is illustrated by two models recently introduced in the literature.

Nonlinear drift tearing modes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
It is shown analytically and with a numerical code that the nonlinear growth and saturation of magnetic islands in tokamaks is not affected by diamagnetic corrections. Diamagnetic effects change the linear growth and introduce mode rotation, which persists in the nonlinear regime.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Interaction of Tearing Modes of Different Pitch in Cylindrical Geometry

open access: yes, 1977
In cylindrical geometry, we analyze the hypothesis that the major disruption in tokamaks is due to the interaction of tearing modes of different pitch.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

From current-driven to neoclassically driven tearing modes [PDF]

open access: yes
In the TCV tokamak, the m/n = 2/1 island is observed in low-density discharges with central electron-cyclotron current drive. The evolution of its width has two distinct growth phases, one of which can be linked to a "conventional" tearing mode driven ...

Numerical modeling of linear and nonlinear evolution of tearing modes and resistive-kink modes with runaway electrons

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
In this work, we extend the three-dimensional, nonlinear resistive/two-fluid MHD code CLT to simulate runaway electron physics by implementing a widely adopted fluid runaway electron MHD (RE-MHD) model.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.
