Recovery of Liquid Organic Radioactive Waste Absorbed Into Soil by Extraction

open access: yesCleanMat, EarlyView.
Radioactive organic liquid waste adsorbed in soil containing pure beta‐emitting radionuclides such as H‐3 must be radiologically characterized for subsequent management. For this purpose, a method for the recovery of radioactive scintillation liquids adsorbed in soil has been developed that simulates this type of waste.

Design, Preparation, and Evaluation of a Novel 99mTcN Complex of Ciprofloxacin Xanthate as a Potential Bacterial Infection Imaging Agent

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
In order to seek novel technetium-99m bacterial infection imaging agents, a ciprofloxacin xanthate (CPF2XT) was synthesized and radiolabeled with [99mTcN]2+ core to obtain the 99mTcN-CPF2XT complex, which exhibited high radiochemical purity ...

The Role of Dynamic Renal Scintigraphy in Detecting Vesicoureteral Reflux Diagnosed by Voiding Cystourethrogram

open access: yesGenel Tıp Dergisi, 2023
Aims: This study aims to evaluate the role of standardized dynamic renal scintigraphy (DRS) in recognizing vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in patients detected with VUR by voiding cystourethrography (VCUG).

Complete improvement in a patient with multiple irreversible defects of the left ventricle on 99m technetium-sestamibi SPECT after percutaneous coronary intervention. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
99mTc-sestamibi has been investigated as a potential viability marker; initial studies have shown good concordance between 201Tl and 99mTc-sestamibi activities in both viable and nonviable myocardium.

Nuclear imaging and echocardiographic findings in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with and without ATTR‐CM

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Patients with transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR‐CM) often experience delayed diagnosis, which may detrimentally impact clinical outcomes. This study aimed to assess the frequency of use of planar scintigraphy with and without single‐photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM ...

Scintigraphy with 99mTc(V)-DMSA in monitoring patients with inflammatory bowel disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The clinical significance of pentavalent technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid (99mTc(V)-DMSA) scintigraphy in diagnosing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has not yet been fully elucidated. The aim of this prospective paper was to study the above.

Recent applications of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles for cerebral blood volume quantification in functional magnetic resonance imaging

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
This study explores the recent advances in the use of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) in functional MRI (fMRI) for studying brain functions, specifically cerebral blood volume (CBV) measurements. It covers fMRI techniques, magnetic nanoparticle synthesis, coating methods, and their applications in CBV imaging, in comparison to other contrast agents in

Heroin Vapor Inhalation-induced Spongiform Leukoencephalopathy

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2009
A 26-year-old man with a 3-year history of heroin vapor inhalation developed spongiform leukoencephalopathy. T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging showed characteristic high signals over subcortical white matter, including bilateral frontoparietal lobes,

In vitro radionuclide labeling characteristics of blenderized tube feeds for quantitative gastric motility assessment

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Gastric emptying scintigraphy (GES) using technetium‐99m‐sulfur colloid (99mTc‐SC) is an important tool for evaluating feeding intolerance. Stable 99mTc‐SC binding to the solid component of the meal is imperative for accurate result interpretation.

Incidental Finding of Triple Ectopic Thyroid: Case Report and Review of the Literature [PDF]

open access: yesAsia Oceania Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Biology
Ectopic thyroid tissue is a rare congenital anomaly, with the presence of three simultaneous ectopic foci being exceedingly rare. We describe a case of a totally asymptomatic 26-year-old male discovered to have triple ectopic thyroid following incidental
