KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Technetium-99m Verses Fluorine-18

open access: yes, 2018
: A comparison of Technetium-99m and Fluorine-18 properties is carried out. Availability of both radionuclides is described. Radiation doses by their use in SPECT and PET procedures are analysed.

Research Programs to Investigate the Fundamental Chemistry of Technetium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Technetium (99Tc, half-life = 2.13x105 years, b-emitter) is one of the radionuclides of major concern for nuclear waste disposal. This concern is due to the long half-life of 99Tc, the ease with which pertechnetate, TcO4 -, migrates in the geosphere ...

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Aspects of Technetium Chemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Interest in technetium chemistry is derived from the fact that it is a recently-discovered element and from the use of technetium-99m as a radioactive label in diagnostic medicine.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Synthetic and Coordination Chemistry of the Heavier Trivalent Technetium Binary Halides: Uncovering Technetium Triiodide

open access: yes, 2016
Technetium tribromide and triiodide were obtained from the reaction of the quadruply Tc–Tc-bonded dimer Tc2(O2CCH3)4Cl2 with flowing HX(g) (X = Br, I) at elevated temperatures. At 150 and 300 °C, the reaction with HBr(g) yields TcBr3 crystallizing with

Abundance of radioactive technetium in Przybylski's star revisited

open access: yes, 2023
International audienceWe have searched for lines of the radioactive element technetium (Tc) in the spectrum of Przybylski's star (HD 101065). The nuclei of this chemical element are formed in the slow process of capturing thermalized neutrons.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.
