Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Review of correlation techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Correlation analysis in MST radar to determine the scattered power, Doppler frequency and correlation time for a noisy signal is examined. It is assumed that coherent detection was employed, with two accurately balanced quadrature receiving channels and ...

Multi-loop integrand reduction techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We review recent progress in D-dimensional integrand reduction algorithms for two loop amplitudes and give examples of their application to non-planar maximal cuts of the five-point all-plus helicity amplitude in QCD.Comment: 8 pages, Contribution to the

Models and techniques

open access: yesStatistica Neerlandica, 1988
In the situations typically encountered in the social sciences the methodology of traditional statistics is neither a good description of data analysis practice nor a good prescription to arrive at satisfactory summaries of the data. On the other hand the traditional statistical techniques are excellent data analysis tools, and statistical models are ...

THE TECHNIQUE OF SUPERFUSION [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology and Chemotherapy, 1953
Jack Gaddum was one of the giants of pharmacology in the 1950's. Along with Harold Burn, George Brownlee, Willie Bain, A.D. MacDonald and Gladwin Buttle, he dominated meetings of the British Pharmacological Society. This paper illustrates several of his attributes including conciseness, clarity and directness of approach.

RAD50 missense variants differentially affect the DNA damage response and mitotic progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
RAD50 incorporates into the MRN complex and initiates the DNA damage response. Furthermore, RAD50 promotes mitotic progression. RAD50 missense variants capable of forming an MRN complex supported the DNA damage response and mitotic features to different extents in complementation experiments, indicating these functions are separable and might impact ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Plasmodium falciparum gametogenesis essential protein 1 (GEP1) is a transmission‐blocking target

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study shows Plasmodium falciparum GEP1 is vital for activating sexual stages of malarial parasites even independently of a mosquito factor. Knockout parasites completely fail gamete formation even when a phosphodiesterase inhibitor is added. Two single‐nucleotide polymorphisms (V241L and S263P) are found in 12%–20% of field samples.
