Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Potential for Assessing Dynamic Problem-Solving at the Beginning of Higher Education Studies

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2017
There is a growing demand for assessment instruments which can be used in higher education, which cover a broader area of competencies than the traditional tests for disciplinary knowledge and domain-specific skills, and which measure students' most ...

Communication Technologies Based on Voluntary Blinks: Assessment and Design [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Some people with severe disabilities are con ned in a state in which communication is virtually impossible, being reduced to communicating with their eyes or using sophisticated systems that translate thoughts into words. The EyeTrackers and Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) are suitable systems for those people but their main drawback is their cost ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Using Artificial Intelligence for Eliciting Diagnostic Evidence From Students’ Drawings

open access: yesPsychological Test Adaptation and Development
: While artificial intelligence (AI) gained attention for eliciting diagnostic evidence from text answers using NLP or for generating visual stimuli, few studies investigate its use for analyzing visual data such as free-hand sketches from graphical ...

Using World-Wide-Web technology for pathology education [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
In this article, we describe the development of computer-based learning programs for pathology students at Jefferson Medical College. These programs are authored using HTML (HyperText Markup Language), and are available to students on campus and via the ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Integrating Circulated Technology into the Library Collection Development Plan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Academic libraries are increasingly focused on the acquisition and expansion of circulating technology collections. These collections are often governed by auxiliary library services such as Access Services or IT departments and not considered as part of
