Heat thermotherapy to improve cardiovascular function and cardiometabolic health: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Heat thermotherapy (HT) is reported to promote cardiovascular (CV) and cardiometabolic health benefits. This systematic review and meta‐analysis (CRD42020193669) empirically investigated the efficacy of HT in improving CV and cardiometabolic parameters by assessing responses to single versus multiple HT bouts.

Disfunção miocárdica em pacientes chagásicos sem cardiopatia aparente Myocardial dysfunction in chagasic patients with no apparent heart disease

Noradrenergic regulation of skeletal muscle oxygen pressures: Impact of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and heat therapy

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Attenuation of sympathetic vasoconstriction during exercise (functional sympatholysis) contributes to skeletal muscle oxygen delivery–utilization matching. However, the extent to which muscle contractions impact noradrenergic regulation of interstitial oxygen pressures (PO2is${P_{{{\mathrm{O}}_2}}}_{{\mathrm{is}}}$; the driving force for blood–

Teaching TEI: The Need for TEI by Example [PDF]

open access: yesLiterary and Linguistic Computing, 2009
The Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) 1 has provided a complex and comprehensive system of provisions for scholarly text encoding. Although a major focus of the 'digital humanities' domain, and despite much teaching effort by the TEI com- munity, there is a lack of teaching materials available, which would encourage the adoption of the TEI's ...

Fossil Hegemony and Capitalist Realism in Tropic of Orange

open access: yesFuture Humanities, Volume 4, Issue 1, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines Karen Tei Yamashita's Tropic of Orange (1997) through the lens of Mark Fisher's influential concept ‘capitalist realism’. Scholars of petrofiction have pointed to a political ambivalence in the representation of fossil fuels, where a better understanding of fossil capital can overwhelm as much as galvanize.

Free‐Breathing Multi‐Slice Co‐Registered Cardiac T1, T2, and ADC Mapping With Spin‐Echo Echo Planar Imaging

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 4, Page 2035-2051, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a free‐breathing method for multi‐slice co‐registered cardiac T1, T2, and ADC maps using single‐shot spin‐echo echo planar imaging (SE‐EPI). Methods T1, T2, and diffusion weighted images in five slices were acquired with SE‐EPI readouts during free breathing using interleaved acquisition of slices, non‐selective inversion ...

Recent Observations of Thwaites Glacier, West Antarctica Are Consistent With High Rates of Loss in Next 50 Years

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract Thwaites Glacier has experienced accelerating mass loss, with rates increasing over fivefold since the 1990s. We apply transient calibration to two independent ice‐sheet models (STREAMICE and ISSM) using time‐varying velocity and surface elevation data from 2004 to 2017 to project future mass loss through 2067.
