Towards a quantum interface between telecommunication and UV wavelengths: design and classical performance

open access: yes, 2016
We propose and characterize a quantum interface between telecommunication wavelengths (1311 nm) and an Yb-dipole transition (369.5 nm) based on a second order sum frequency process in a PPKTP waveguide.

Polaritons in Non‐Fullerene Acceptors for High Responsivity Angle‐Independent Organic Narrowband Infrared Photodiodes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
High‐performance narrowband NIR organic photodiodes are essential for miniaturized imaging, sensing, and wearable systems, yet existing approaches suffer from angular sensitivity and limited material compatibility. This work demonstrates the first polariton‐enhanced OPDs with angle‐independent response, sub‐45 nm bandwidth, and record responsivity (0 ...

Health care for all: effective, community supported, healthcare with innovative use of telemedicine technology

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice, 2018
Almost half of the world’s total population reside in rural and remote areas and a large number of these people remain deprived of most basic facilities like healthcare and education.

Robustness Comparison of 15 Real Telecommunication Networks: Structural and Centrality Measurements

open access: yesJournal of Network and Systems Management, 2017
Multiple failures can have catastrophic consequences on the normal operation of telecommunication networks. In this sense, guaranteeing network robustness to avoid users and services being disconnected is essential.

Telecommunications in Jericho [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2002
This essay, written three years before the enactment of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, is a reminder of how little has been accomplished in deregulating telecommunications. In 1993, I erroneously predicted that American telecommunications regulation was about to collapse like the walls of Jericho.

Proving Optical Anisotropy and Polarization Effects in β‐Ga2O3$\left(\text{Ga}\right)_{2} \left(\text{O}\right)_{3}$ Nanomembranes via X‐Ray Excited Optical Luminescence

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
In this study, the pronounced anisotropy in the optical properties of β‐Ga2O3 nanomembranes has been analized under a synchrotron nanoprobe. We have investigated the site‐specific contributions of distint Ga ions to the emission bands by combining polarization‐dependent X‐ray absorption near‐edge structure and X‐ray excited luminescence.

Lost Silence: An emergency response early detection service through continuous processing of telecommunication data streams

open access: yes, 2019
Early detection of significant traumatic events, e.g. a terrorist attack or a ship capsizing, is important to ensure that a prompt emergency response can occur.

A nonlinear-coherence receiver [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Mathematical analysis and detailed study of generic model for coherent receiver has demonstrated that nonlinear coherence between given biphase-modulated input signal and supplied reference signal can be used in receivers to improve telecommunication ...
