On Telecommunication Service Imbalance and Infrastructure Resource Deployment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The digital divide restricting the access of people living in developing areas to the benefits of modern information and communications technologies has become a major challenge and research focus. To well understand and finally bridge the digital divide, we first need to discover a proper measure to characterize and quantify the telecommunication ...

Artificial Modulation of the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Kinetics via Control of Grain Boundaries Density in Mo2C Through Laser Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A laser‐driven strategy enables precise microstructural modulation of Mo₂C, achieving nanoscale grain control (15.6 ± 5 nm) and an ultrahigh grain boundary density (130 µm−1). Moreover, high‐angle grain boundaries enhance active sites, facilitate electron transport, and optimize hydrogen adsorption kinetics, significantly reducing overpotential.

A fuzzy based churn prediction and retention model for prepaid customers in telecom industry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2018
Accurate and timely identification of the potential churner, also known as churn prediction, is crucial to devise effective retention strategies. A number of churn prediction models have been proposed in the past, however, the existing models suffer from

Rigid Fluorescent Indacenetetraone‐Based Semiconducting Polymers via Knoevenagel Condensation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
New donor–acceptor polymers prepared by Knoevenagel condensation of indacenedithiophene‐ and indacenedifuran‐based aldehydes reveal an exceptionally rigid backbone, which is manifested in the remarkably narrow absorption and emission bands in red to near‐infrared region.

Quantum telecommunication based on atomic cascade transitions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters 96, 093604 (2006), 2006
A quantum repeater at telecommunications wavelengths with long-lived atomic memory is proposed, and its critical elements are experimentally demonstrated using a cold atomic ensemble. Via atomic cascade emission, an entangled pair of 1530 nm and 780 nm photons is generated.

3D Nano‐architected Polymer Shell Enables Reconfigurable Stabilized Blue Phase Soft Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Spherical polymer shells featuring nanostructure of blue phase (BP) disclinations form via in situ photo‐polymerization within BP liquid crystals, providing controlled anchoring for BP nucleation and growth at room temperature and beyond. This architected confinement enhances BP thermal stability over a broad temperature range while enabling dynamic ...

Cavity-enhanced single artificial atoms in silicon [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Artificial atoms in solids are leading candidates for quantum networks, scalable quantum computing, and sensing, as they combine long-lived spins with mobile and robust photonic qubits. The central requirements for the spin-photon interface at the heart of these systems are long spin coherence times and efficient spin-photon coupling at ...

European Telecommunication Regulation - Effects on Telecommunication Providers [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
This paper considers the impact of European telecom regulation on the value of affected companies. Employing a repeating AR-GARCH model, I compare the effect of three types of regulation which are categorized based on the addressed subject, i.e. cross-market, country-specific and company-specific regulation.

Access to telecommunications networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Contributing to a convergence of legal and economic approaches, The Economics of Antitrust and Regulation in Telecommunications integrates economic theory into current EU antitrust policy within the sector. The book addresses the role of competition and regulatory policies on a number of key issues in telecommunications, such as market definition ...
