Artificial intelligence interaction is not equivalent to social interaction: Rethinking artificial intelligence‐mediated digital exposure in early childhood

Pediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
Artificial intelligence introduces a developmentally distinct form of digital exposure. As interaction complexity increases from passive media to AI‐based systems, cognitive engagement may increase, whereas opportunities for authentic human social interaction may decrease, highlighting the need for AI‐specific pediatric assessment frameworks.
