Escherichia coli EHEC Germany outbreak preliminary functional annotation using BG7 system [PDF]
We have annotated the European outbreak E. coli EHEC genome sequenced by BGI (6-2-2011) and assembled with MIRA by Nick Loman (6-2-2011 ). Our system BG7, Bacterial Genome annotation of Era7 Bioinformatics, predicts ORFs and annotates them based on ...

Weyl semimetal WTe2 possesses high conductivity and robust topological surface states. A controlled synthesis method for carbon fiber‐supported WTe2 and core–shell WO3−x–WTe2 nanowire arrays is proposed. The WTe2 nanowires are highly crystalline, uniform, and vertically aligned, providing abundant active sites and durability in hydrogen evolution ...

Pressure-induced phase transition of Bi2Te3 into the bcc structure
The pressure-induced phase transition of bismuth telluride, Bi2Te3, has been studied by synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements at room temperature using a diamond-anvil cell (DAC) with loading pressures up to 29.8 GPa.

Large-amplitude chirped coherent phonons in tellurium mediated by ultrafast photoexcited carrier diffusion [PDF]
We report femtosecond time-resolved reflectivity measurements of coherent phonons in tellurium performed over a wide range of temperatures (3K to 296K) and pump laser intensities. A totally symmetric A$_{1}$ coherent phonon at 3.6 THz responsible for the

Recent Advances in Xenes Based FET for Biosensing Applications
Xenes (monoelemental 2D materials like graphene, phosphorene, tellurene) enable ultrasensitive FET (Field‐Effect Transistor) biosensors due to their tunable bandgap, high carrier mobility, and large surface area. Advances in synthesis (CVD, MBE) and functionalization allow detection of DNA/RNA (via CRISPR‐Cas systems), proteins, small molecules, and ...

Conductivity Measurements of a Thermoelectric Nanomaterial through THz Spectroscopy [PDF]
In today’s society there is a great demand on energy output—in the United States alone we rely heavily on non-renewable energy sources. Thermoelectric materials may be able to be used to create more efficient energy systems or recover wasted heat from ...

Improved Magnetoresistance of Tungsten Telluride and Silver Telluride Composites
This study focuses on the composite magnetoresistive materials of tungsten telluride (WTe₂) and silver telluride (Ag₂Te). Bulk composites are prepared by using different contents of the second phase. Adding 10% silver telluride can enhance the magnetoresistance performance, reduce magnetic field and increase onset temperature.

Materials Selection Principles for Designing Electro‐Thermal Neurons
Materials property – performance relations are established for new and old electrical materials leveraged as electro‐thermal oscillators emulating neuron dynamics. Robust, reconfigurable, high frequency, low power characteristics are explicitly tied to highly nonlinear electrical transport, small specific heat, and greater electrical than thermal ...
