Potential of tellurite resistance in heterotrophic bacteria from mining environments

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Untreated mining wastes and improper disposal of high-tech devices generate an environmental increase of bioavailable metalloids, exerting stress on autochthonous microbial populations.

Elevated level of urinary tellurium is a potential risk for increase of blood pressure in humans and mice

open access: yesEnvironment International
Background: People worldwide are routinely exposed to tellurium mainly via dietary ingestion. There has been no study to clarify the contribution of tellurium to blood pressure in humans or animals.

Review

open access: yes, 2020
The chalcogen elements oxygen, sulfur, and selenium are essential constituents of side chain functions of natural amino acids. Conversely, no structural and biological function has been discovered so far for the heavier and more metallic tellurium ...

Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.
