Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Wide-temperature-range perfect superelasticity and giant elastocaloric effect in a high entropy alloy

open access: yes, 2019
The high entropy alloy concept offers unique opportunities for the design of advanced materials with unprecedented properties. However, hitherto most of the research efforts are focused on structural materials.

Static Mechanical Properties of Aeolian Sand Improved with Silt Subjected to Varying Temperature and Pressure

open access: yesBuildings
Delineating the mechanical characteristics of aeolian sand improved with silt under temperature action is of great significance for the construction and long-term operation of engineering materials in seasonal frozen areas.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Water desalination using a temperature gradient

open access: yes, 2019
A new concept for reverse osmosis is identified based on the use of a temperature gradient instead of pressure. When the temperature of the permeate-side of the membrane is higher than the feed-side then a significant driving force exists for water ...

Millennial temperature reconstruction intercomparison and evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
There has been considerable recent interest in paleoclimate reconstructions of the temperature history of the last millennium. A wide variety of techniques have been used.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

The intrinsic temperature effect of the Raman spectra of graphite

open access: yes, 1999
The Raman spectra of ion-implanted highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) are reported, in which an additional mode at 1083 cm(-1) and three doublet structures in the positions of similar to 1350, similar to 2450, and similar to 2710 cm(-1) are ...

Acclimatory response to environmental temperature in two species of marine crab: the stenothermal cancer pagurus and the eurythermal carcinus maenas [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Temperature acclimation effects on leg muscle plasma membrane composition and biophysical state, neuromuscular function and whole organism thermal tolerance, and their dependence on the background seasonal acclimatization were investigated in the ...
