Factors influencing water temperature on farms and the effect of warm drinking water on pig growth

open access: yes, 2013
Drinking water temperature was measured continuously for one year on 22 pig farms in South Australia (SA) and Queensland (QLD) and data were collected on major housing features and management factors employed in individual piggery buildings.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Effect of pouring temperature on thixotropic microstructure formation of AZ91

open access: yes, 2007
The effect of pouring temperature on thixotropic microstructure of AZ91 was investigated. The results show that the pouring temperature has a pronounced effect both on microstructural morphology and grain size.

Effect of Reaction Temperature on the Shape of FePt Nanoparticles

open access: yes, 2014
Nanorod-like, cubic, and spherical FePt nanoparticles (NPs) are synthesized by adjusting the reaction temperature at 220 degrees C, 250 degrees C, and 298 degrees C, respectively.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Effect of sintering temperature and heat treatment on electrical properties of indium oxide based ceramics

open access: yes, 2008
Indium oxide based ceramics with bismuth oxide addition were sintered in air in the temperature range 800-1300 ºC. Current-voltage characteristics of In2O3-Bi2O3 ceramics sintered at different temperatures are weakly nonlinear.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Exploring the effect of temperature variations on unplanned asthma admissions

open access: yes, 2011
Global climate change is one of the highest concerns in the scientific, health and environmental arena. Establishing association between weather and health exposures are fundamental to learn about the complex exposure-disease relationship but the link ...

Particle size of insecticidal suspensions and their contact toxicity vi. Effect of temperature on relative toxicity

open access: yes, 1957
Two aqueous suspensions, one containing crystals of uniform size and the other containing colloidal particles, were made with each of seven solid contact poisons (two DDT-analogues, DDT, rotenone, 2-bromomercurithiophen, dieldrin and endrin).
