Effect of surface preparation on the corrosion of austenitic stainless steel 304L in high temperature steam and simulated PWR primary water [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The corrosion behavior of 304L grade stainless steel (SS) in high-temperature steam and in a simulated Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) is studied. The goal was to characterize the nature of the oxide coating generated during 500 h exposure of samples in ...

Functional Properties and Safety Considerations of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Under Varying Conditions

open access: yesNanomaterials
Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) exhibit diverse morphologies and sizes, influencing their functional properties. However, the relationship between their morphology and behavior under varying conditions remains poorly understood.

Theory of Mitigate Temperature Effect on the Equilibrium Point in Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers [PDF]

open access: yesKirkuk Journal of Science, 2019
This paper presents a way to mitigate the influence of temperature effects on the equilibrium point (Q-point) of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) by investigating the effect of laser injection current (Iinj) and dc-bias level (Ibias ...

Selective Esterification of Phosphonic Acids

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Here, we report straightforward and selective synthetic procedures for mono- and diesterification of phosphonic acids. A series of alkoxy group donors were studied and triethyl orthoacetate was found to be the best reagent as well as a solvent for the ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Mitigating Temperature Effects in Curved Continuous Steel Box Girders: A Parametric Thermodynamic Analysis and Design Recommendations

open access: yesBuildings
Curved continuous steel box girders are extensively utilized in bridge construction due to their efficiency and environmental benefits. However, in regions with significant temperature fluctuations, temperature effects can result in cumulative ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Study on the Effect of Temperature on the Alignment of a Long-Span Steel–Concrete Composite Beam Track Cable-Stayed Bridge

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In order to study the effect of temperature on the alignment of a long-span special track bridge, this paper provides a theoretical basis and technical support for bridge design, construction and later operation.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
