Temperature sensitivity of soil carbon decomposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The world's soils contain three times as much carbon as the atmosphere. Thus, any changes in this carbon pool may affect atmospheric CO₂ levels with implications for climate change.

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Artificial molecular machines and motors—Design and control of nanoscale motion

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Molecules are constantly moving because of thermal fluctuations, but random motion alone cannot be exploited to perform directional tasks. Artificial molecular machines use chemical, electrical, or light energy to bias this motion. Molecular shuttles, rotary motors, and supramolecular pumps illustrate how nanoscale movement can be controlled and ...

Detection of volcanic, solar and greenhouse gas signals in paleo-reconstructions of Northern Hemispheric temperature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We apply a multiple regression method to estimate the response to anthropogenic and natural climate forcings simultaneously from a number of paleo-reconstructions of Northern Hemispheric average temperature. These long records (600 to 1000 years) provide

THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE ON THE ALUMINUM ALLOYS [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2013
In the technical literature are some correlations with reference to the influence of brazing temperatureon aluminum alloys, but there is not a diagram generally accepted. This paper aims to establish a direct correlation between the mechanical properties ...

Influence of Water Temperature on Results of Current Meter Calibration and Measurement

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2013
On the basis of the results of calibration of current meters at water of varying temperatures, a hypothesis that water temperature influences measured water velocities was formulated.
