Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Terahertz Resonant Emission by Optically Excited Infrared‐Active Shear Phonons in KY(MoO4)2

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The generation of monochromatic electromagnetic radiation in the terahertz (THz) frequency range has remained a challenging task for many decades. Here, the emission of monochromatic sub‐THz radiation by optical phonons in the dielectric material KY(MoO4)

Differential temperature sensors: Review of applications in the test and characterization of circuits, usage and design methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Differential temperature sensors can be placed in integrated circuits to extract a signature ofthe power dissipated by the adjacent circuit blocks built in the same silicon die.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

Temperature compensated digital inertial sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A circuit which maintains the inertial element of a gyroscope or accelerometer at a constant position by delivering pulses to a rebalancing motor is discussed.

Lanthanide grafted phenanthroline-polymer for physiological temperature range sensing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Accurate measurement of the temperature is crucial as it determines the dynamics of almost any system. Conventional contact thermometers are not well suited for small scale measurements. Temperature dependent luminescent materials, i.e.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Temperature compensation of digital inertial sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Heaters for thermal stabilization are unnecessary when analog dc voltage provided by gyroscope temperature sensor is used to change outputs to compensate for temperature variations.
