Sensitive Wearable Temperature Sensor with Seamless Monolithic Integration

open access: yesAdvances in Materials, 2019
Accurate temperature field measurement provides critical information in many scientific problems. Herein, a new paradigm for highly sensitive, flexible, negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor‐based artificial skin is reported, with the highest

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The influence of key characteristic parameters on performance of optical fiber Fabry–Perot temperature sensor

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
Extrinsic optical fiber Fabry–Perot (F–P) high temperature sensors using Al2O3 ceramic tubes were fabricated by a microscope equipped with a CCD whose scaleplate has been calibrated using a standard gauge block.

Temperature Dependence Of Brillouin Light Scattering Spectra Of Acoustic Phonons In Silicon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Electrons, optical phonons, and acoustic phonons are often driven out of local equilibrium in electronic devices or during laser-material interaction processes. The need for a better understanding of such non-equilibrium transport processes has motivated

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Catalytic Micro Gas Sensor with Excellent Homogeneous Temperature Distribution and Low Power Consumption for Long-Term Stable Operation

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
This paper presents a long-term stable thermoelectric micro gas sensor with ligand linked Pt nanoparticles as catalyst. The sensor design gives an excellent homogeneous temperature distribution over the catalytic layer, an important factor for long-term ...
