Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Conditional and unconditional nonlinear stability in fluid dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this thesis we examine some of the interesting aspects of stability for some convection problems. Specifically, the first part of the thesis deals with the Bénard problem for various Non-Newtonian fluids, whereas the second part develops a stability ...

PHEMTS AS CIRCUIT ELEMENTS FOR LOW-POWER-CONSUMPTION RECEIVERS/AMPLIFIERS OPERATING IN A WIDE TEMPERATURE RANGE ENVIRONMENT

open access: yesRadio Physics and Radio Astronomy, 2014
The PHEMTs are proposed to be used as circuit elements for low-power-consumption microwave (1− 4 GHz) amplifiers operating in a wide temperature range environment.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Effects of wall temperature on boundary layer stability over a blunt cone at Mach 7.99 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Effects of wall temperature on stabilities of hypersonic boundary layer over a 7-degree half-cone-angle blunt cone are studied by using both direct numerical simulation (DNS) and linear stability theory (LST) analysis.

Stability of peatland carbon to rising temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
AbstractPeatlands contain one-third of soil carbon (C), mostly buried in deep, saturated anoxic zones (catotelm). The response of catotelm C to climate forcing is uncertain, because prior experiments have focused on surface warming. We show that deep peat heating of a 2 m-thick peat column results in an exponential increase in CH4 emissions.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Improving low-temperature activity of Sulfolobus acidocaldarius 2-keto-3-deoxygluconate aldolase

open access: yes, 2009
Sulfolobus acidocaldarius 2-keto-3-deoxygluconate aldolase (SacKdgA) displays optimal activity at 95 degrees C and is studied as a model enzyme for aldol condensation reactions.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

UV-Spectrophotometric Evaluation of the Stability of Ciprofloxacin Eye Drops at Various Temperature Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes
Ciprofloxacin eye drops, a topical antibiotic for ocular diseases, is commonly obtained “over the counter,” and people are not educated about the importance of storage of the medications, thus interfering with their stability.
