Proximity-Coupled Ti/TiN Multilayers for use in Kinetic Inductance Detectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We apply the superconducting proximity effect in TiN/Ti multi-layer films to tune the critical temperature, Tc, to within 10 mK with high uniformity (less than 15 mK spread) across a 75 mm wafer. Reproducible Tc's are obtained from 0.8 - 2.5 K.

Uniform electron gas at finite temperatures [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2013
We calculate the free energy of the quantum uniform electron gas for temperatures from near zero to 100 times the Fermi energy, approaching the classical limit. An extension of the Vashista-Singwi theory to finite temperatures and self-consistent compressibility sum rule is presented.

Investigating the Structural Dynamics and Crack Propagation Behavior under Uniform and Non-Uniform Temperature Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2021
The robustness and stability of the system depend on structural integrity. This stability is, however, compromised by aging, wear and tear, overloads, and environmental factors. A study of vibration and fatigue cracking for structural health monitoring is one of the core research areas in recent times. In this paper, the structural dynamics and fatigue

Influence of the synthesis conditions of silicon nanodots in an industrial low pressure chemical vapor deposition reactor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Experiments conducted in an industrial tubular low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) reactor have demonstrated the reproducibility and spatial uniformity of silicon nanodots (NDs) area density and mean radius.

Theoretical analysis of induction heating in high-temperature epitaxial growth system

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
The temperature uniformity and heating efficiency in a high-temperature epitaxial growth system were investigated by modeling and simulating. The finite element method (FEM) was used to calculate the distribution of magnetic field and temperature field ...

Deformation temperature impact on microstructure and mechanical properties uniformity of GWZ932K alloy under reciprocating upsetting-extrusion

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
At present, there are great technical difficulties in achieving microstructure and mechanical properties uniformity in large-size billets prepared by severe plastic deformation technology.

Theory of photoferroelectric response in SmC* liquids

open access: yes, 2012
We are concerned with the modification of liquid crystalline and polar order in SmC* liquids by illumination. In particular we show that non-uniformity due to absorption and also dynamics, can be complex.

A Computer Model for Laser Photopolymerization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
A computer model for a laser induced photopolymerization process has been established which simulates stereolithography. The model couples irradiation, chemical reaction, and heat transfer equations to provide insights into rate processes occurring in ...

Influence of Temperature and Flow Ratio on the Morphology and Uniformity of 4H-SiC Epitaxial Layers Growth on 150 mm 4° Off-Axis Substrates

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
The homoepitaxial growth of 4H-SiC films was conducted on 4H-SiC 150 mm 4° off-axis substrates by using a home-made hot-wall chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactor.

Temperature dependent photoluminescence of single CdS nanowires

open access: yes, 2006
Temperature dependent photoluminescence (PL) is used to study the electronic properties of single CdS nanowires. At low temperatures, both near-band edge (NBE) photoluminescence (PL) and spatially-localized defect-related PL are observed in many ...
