Sustainable Plant‐Based Water Repellent Coatings Using Hydrophobic Pine and Palm Pollen

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A novel formulation strategy for creating superhydrophobic coatings using plant‐derived waxes and chemically treated pine and palm pollen. By employing acid modification, the hydrophobicity of the pollen surface is enhanced, resulting in water contact angles exceeding 150°.

Risky asset models with tempered stable fractal activity time

open access: yes, 2014
Two constructions of fractal activity time in the fractal activity time geometric Brownian motion (FATGBM) model for a risky asset are discussed. Both constructions produce tractable dependence structure that includes long-range dependence.

Redox‐Confined Interfacial Polymerization Enables Mechanically Robust and Self‐Adhesive Nanofilms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Redox‐confined polymerization of a simple thiol monomer at a water‐organic interface generates robust freestanding films with nanoscale thickness. The resulting disulfide‐crosslinked nanofilms combine high stiffness with intrinsic adhesion to soft substrates, enabling conformal contact with artificial skin without additional functionalization.

Imide Substitution Drives the Supramolecular Assembly of Perylene Diimide Into Laterally Modulated Metallic/Semiconducting Molecular Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Imide substitution with bulky 2,6‐isopropylphenyl groups induces perylene diimide to self‐assemble on Ag(111) into a monolayer with two coexisting adsorption heights. Molecules closer to the substrate gain metallic character due to charge transfer from the metal, while farther ones remain decoupled and semiconducting.

An Exact Method For Simulating Rapidly Decreasing Tempered Stable Distributions

open access: yes, 2020
Rapidly decreasing tempered stable distributions are useful models for financial applications. However, there has been no exact method for simulation available in the literature. We remedy this by introducing an exact simulation method in the finite variation case. Our methodology works for the wider class of $p$-RDTS distributions.

Macroscopic Graphene Oxide Corrugated Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Various macroscopic 3D corrugated structures, including triangular corrugations, sinusoidal corrugations, and corrugated boards, are constructed from graphene oxide paper. These structures have smooth and compact surfaces and high geometrical precision.

Evolution of OLED Lamination Technology With Development of Display Form Factors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review evaluates the evolution of organic light‐emitting diode (OLED) lamination technologies alongside advancing display form factors. It contrasts optically clear adhesives and resins, highlighting uniformity control for rigid screens, bubble‐free optimization for bended architectures, and visible‐light curing for foldable layers.

Strong‐Magnetic Flexible Composites for Magnetically Responsive Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This perspective provides an overview of the performance mechanisms, preparation methods, and applications of strong magnetic flexible composite materials in soft actuators (such as gripping, movement, and sensing), and further explores current opportunities and challenges.

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard): An Aerial Robotic Swarm for Autonomous Detection and Entrapment of Rogue Multirotors

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment

On the convolution equivalence of tempered stable distributions on the real line

open access: yesStatistics & Probability Letters
We show the convolution equivalence property of univariate tempered stable distributions in the sense of Rosińsky (2007). This makes rigorous various classic heuristic arguments on the asymptotic similarity between the probability and Lévy densities of such distributions. Some specific examples from the literature are discussed.
