Observations on the Relationship between Crystal Orientation and the Level of Auto-Tempering in an As-Quenched Martensitic Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2019
Auto-tempering is a feature of the technologically important as-quenched low-carbon martensitic steels. The focus of this paper is on the morphology of the martensite and the orientation of the last forming untempered regions in relation to the earlier ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Parallel tempering algorithm for integration over Lefschetz thimbles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The algorithm based on integration over Lefschetz thimbles is a promising method to resolve the sign problem for complex actions. However, this algorithm often meets a difficulty in actual Monte Carlo calculations because the configuration space is not ...

SmallTalk: a novel small‐sized fusion tag for peptide expression and purification

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The SmallTalk fusion tag allows for the efficient expression and purification of soluble recombinant proteins or peptides in Escherichia coli. Testing with SmallTalk‐GFP confirmed that the proteins were soluble and folded correctly, while SmallTalk‐Bin1b maintained its antimicrobial activity against various bacterial isolates. This streamlined workflow

On the Measurability and Predictability of HAZ Softening in GMAW of Automotive DP980 Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Dual Phase (DP) steel, composed of a ferrite matrix with dispersed islands of martensite, has become popular in auto-body car construction due to its outstanding mechanical properties (i.e., high strength and good ductility).

Effect of Silicon Content on Carbide Precipitation and Low-Temperature Toughness of Pressure Vessel Steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Cr – Mn – Mo – Ni pressure vessel steels containing 0.54 and 1.55% Si are studied. Metallographic and fractographic analyses of the steels after tempering at 650 and 700°C are performed.
