Templates for DNA-templated Fe3O4 nanoparticles

Biomaterials, 2005
Two different strategies are reported that result in the site-specific placement of long DNA molecules, templated with Fe(3)O(4) nanoparticles, on SiO(x) surfaces. The strategies combine solution templating of inorganic nanoparticles onto biomolecules, molecular combing, the layer-by-layer method, and dip-pen nanolithography (DPN).

Tunes and templates

Nature, 2000
A tune is a succession of musical tones that is easily recognizable when repeated. Here we describe an experimental technique and preliminary results that test a simple theoretical idea about tune recognition.

Template Induced Crystallization: A Relation between Template Properties and Template Performance

Crystal Growth & Design, 2009
A relation between template properties and template performance has been established: template particles with a surface layer of cinnamic acid molecules, either adsorbed or covalently bonded, promote crystallization of cinnamic acid, while particles without such a layer do not.

In search of templates

Cognitive Systems Research, 2002
This study reflects a recent shift towards the study of early stages of expert memory acquisition for chess positions. Over the course of 15 sessions, two subjects who knew virtually nothing about the game of chess were trained to memorise positions. Increase in recall performance and chunk size was captured by power functions, confirming predictions ...
