Understanding the Effect of Resistance Temperature Detector Temperature Controllers on Microstructural Alignment in Magnetic Freeze Casting

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The effect of temperature controllers that are commonly used in freeze‐casting is investigated in this work. Temperature controllers are observed to generate a voltage in the slurry. Microstructural alignment and ultimate compressive strength data show this voltage to interfere with the ability to align the microstructure using magnetic fields ...

Ordered Mesoporous Carbons as Novel and Efficient Adsorbent for Dye Removal from Aqueous Solution

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2016
Ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) were successfully synthesized by using hard template and soft template methods. These materials were characterized by XRD, TEM, and N2 adsorption-desorption Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET).

Facial Synthesis of 3D MnO2 Nanofibers Sponge and Its Application in Supercapacitors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
Mesoporous Al2O3 template was facially constructed by hydrolysis of aluminum nitrate solution, and 3D MnO2 foam was fabricated by redox reaction of Mn2+ and MnO4- in the nanoholes of Al2O3 template, followed by sacrificial dissolution of the Al2O3 matrix.

Atomically straight steps on vicinal Si (111) surfaces prepared by step-parallel current in the kink-up direction

open access: yes, 2005
We demonstrate that annealing of a vicinal Si(111) surface at about 800 C with a direct current in the direction that ascends the kinks enhances the formation of atomically straight step edges over micrometer lengths, while annealing with a current in ...

A urea precursor to synthesize carbon nitride with mesoporosity for enhanced activity in the photocatalytic removal of phenol [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A urea precursor was used for the first time to prepare mesoporous carbon nitride (MCN) by a thermal polymerization process with silica nanospheres as a hard template.

Colloidal Crystal Thin Films Grown into Corrugated Surface Templates

open access: yesLangmuir, 2010
The influence of patterned surfaces on the formation of one- and two-dimensional colloidal crystals is analyzed. We have used the corrugated surface of a digital versatile disc (DVD) for template surface processing. When the sphere diameter is on the order of the groove width of patterned substrates, a rich variety of particle decorations appear ...
