Attention Dynamics in Spatial-Temporal Contexts

open access: yesBehavioral Sciences
This study systematically explored the impact of the spatial metaphor of time on attentional bias using visual order stimuli, ranging from fully order to 50% disorder, highlighting the regulatory roles of short-term memory and Gestalt perceptual grouping. Three experiments were conducted.

Enhancing Multivariate Time Series Classifiers Through Self-Attention and Relative Positioning Infusion

open access: yesIEEE Access
Time Series Classification (TSC) is an important and challenging task for many visual computing applications. Despite the extensive range of methods developed for TSC, only a few are based on Deep Neural Networks (DNNs).

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Gut microbiota alterations in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer undergoing chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigated the impact of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on the gut microbiota in patients with locally advanced non‐small‐cell lung cancer. Overall gut microbiota composition remained largely stable throughout CRT while antibiotic exposure may influence microbial diversity.

An outer membrane vesicle‐associated two‐track model for enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis oncogenesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Enterotoxigenic Bacteroides fragilis is a gut bacterium linked to bowel cancer. We propose that its toxin acts along two routes: at the cell surface, cutting the adhesion protein E‐cadherin and triggering inflammation; and inside the cell, delivered by bacterial vesicles, switching on NOD1 and cancer stem cell programs.

What is prepared in temporal preparation? A review and a historical appreciation

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Temporal preparation refers to systematic changes in performance that arise when the timing of an event becomes predictable. From very early on in experimental psychology, research has shown that temporal predictability robustly shortens response times ...

Determinants of undergraduate bioscience engagement: Validating attendance barriers and classroom spatial behaviour across institutions

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Student engagement extends beyond simple attendance. Across 891 bioscience students from three universities, attendance behaviour was associated mainly with structural influences, whereas classroom spatial behaviour reflected affective and sensory factors.

A Deep Ship Trajectory Clustering Method Based on Feature Embedded Representation Learning

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Trajectory clustering is of great significance for identifying behavioral patterns and vessel types of non-cooperative ships. However, existing trajectory clustering methods suffer from limitations in extracting cross-spatiotemporal scale features and ...

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.
