Mapping a lateralisation gradient within the ventral stream for auditory speech perception
Recent models on speech perception propose a dual stream processing network, with a dorsal stream, extending from the posterior temporal lobe of the left hemisphere through inferior parietal areas into the left inferior frontal gyrus, and a ventral ...

Uncertainty‐Aware Deep Ensembles for Robust and Reliable Chemical Sensor Arrays
A reliability‐aware electronic nose is developed using photothermally anchored metal‐catalyst decorated metal oxide nanofiber sensor arrays combined with deep ensemble learning. Diverse catalytic nanofiber channels generate gas‐specific response patterns, enabling selective identification and quantification of sulfur‐containing gases.

A closed‐loop brain–machine interface with a PFAPT hydrogel electrode identifies prefrontal θ‐band as a neuropathic pain biomarker. The hydrogel enables stable 28 d ECoG recording and delivers θ‐triggered cortical stimulation, alleviating pain and affective behaviors in rats via bidirectional regulation of inflammation and central sensitization ...

Multiscale Circuit Architecture Associated With Memory Dysfunction in Temporal Lobe Epilepsy
A multiscale precision‐mapping framework reveals that memory impairment in temporal lobe epilepsy arises from the convergence of focal medial temporal pathology, strategic white matter disconnection, and limbic‐centered metabolic network dysfunction.

Dissociable human perirhinal, hippocampal, and parahippocampal roles during verbal encoding [PDF]
The precise contribution of perirhinal cortex to human episodic memory is uncertain. Human intracranial recordings highlight a role in successful episodic memory encoding, but encoding-related perirhinal activation has not been observed with functional ...

Nestin-expressing cell types in the temporal lobe and hippocampus: morphology, differentiation and proliferative capacity [PDF]
Nestin is expressed in immature neuroepithelial and progenitor cell types and transiently upregulated in proliferative neuroglial cells responding to acute brain injury, including following seizures.

Assessing Strengths and Limitations of Magnetoencephalography Source Imaging With Intracerebral EEG
Simultaneous MEG and stereotactic EEG (SEEG) recordings provide a direct validation framework for MEG source imaging in focal epilepsy. Virtual SEEG signals derived from MEG reconstructions reveal significant agreement with intracranial measures of spike localization, resting‐state oscillations, and functional connectivity, while also identifying ...

Role of medial temporal lobe in extensive retrieval of task-related knowledge [PDF]
The role of medial temporal lobe (MTL) in deep semantic processing was examined in a triple semantic judgment task in which subjects were asked to decide which one of the two bottom words was more semantically fit to the top word.
