Circular RNA PTPN4 Contributes to Blood‐Brain Barrier Disruption during Early Epileptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epileptic condition induces CircPTPN4 upregulation, which promotes ECE‐1 expression through competitive sequestration of miR‐145a‐5p. The elevated ECE‐1 catalyzes the ET‐1 production, leading to p38/MAPK pathway activation and subsequent downregulation of tight junction protein expression. This cascade results in increased BBB permeability and enhanced

Mr volumetry study of hippocampus and temporal lobe in malay adults with normal mri brain in HUSM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Introduction: Volumetry of hippocampus and temporal lobe has been paid attention more and more along with advanced in MRI. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive and provides detailed, accurate morphology of hippocampus and also temporal lobe.

NEAT1 Promotes Epileptogenesis in Tuberous Sclerosis Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The primary neurological manifestations of tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) are intractable epilepsy and intellectual disability. NEAT1 is differentially expressed in TSC‐related epilepsy and influences neuronal excitability by regulating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway.

Elevated Apolipoprotein E Expression in Hippocampal Microglia Drives Temporal Lobe Epilepsy Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In temporal lobe epilepsy, hippocampal APOE is markedly upregulated predominantly in microglia. APOE overexpression in microglia drives TLR4 and cGAS/STING‐dependent neuroinflammation, engages bidirectional crosstalk with neurons and astrocytes, increases neuronal excitability, and perturbs hippocampal lipid metabolism. These findings suggest that APOE‐

METTL1‐Mediated M7G tRNA Modification Promotes Residual Liver Regeneration After Hepatectomy via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
METTL1 and its mediated m7G tRNA modification are significantly up‐regulated after partial hepatectomy (PHx). Overexpression of METTL1 improves the efficiency of liver regeneration after PHx, increases the proliferation of hepatocytes, and accelerates the recovery of liver function.

Functional brain network architecture supporting the learning of social networks in humans

open access: yes, 2019
Most humans have the good fortune to live their lives embedded in richly structured social groups. Yet, it remains unclear how humans acquire knowledge about these social structures to successfully navigate social relationships.

Refractory Status Epilepticus and Therapeutic Uncertainties: a Comprehensive Review on Targeting Neuroinflammation and Rationale for Developing a Platform Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Refractory status epilepticus (RSE) is a life‐threatening neurological emergency with high rates of death and long‐term disability, but treatments for it are often based on limited evidence. RSE is now understood to involve neuroinflammation, which has led to the exploration of anti‐inflammatory and immunomodulatory agents like Tocilizumab. Traditional
