Temporal and non-temporal processes in the elderly

jbcpp, 2013
Abstract Background: The present study examined whether the reported age-related decline in auditory temporal resolution is specific to the temporal domain or rather reflects a general decline in auditory perception, including the stimulus intensity domain.

Temporal Processing in Dyslexia

Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1990
The temporal processing capabilities of 15 children with dyslexia versus 15 age-matched and 15 reading-matched controls in a word identification task were examined. The hypothesis underlying the present experiment was that word recognition would be inferior in children with dyslexia, relative to controls, when the task demanded the temporal integration

Temporal Aspects of Hypnotic Processes

International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, 2003
The authors examine the cortical processes underlying the process of hypnosis, especially as related to the temporal appearance of specific waveforms in relation to pain. Nonhypnotic pain research suggests that in terms of temporal processing early EEG components are more sensory in nature, and later components are of a more emotional or evaluative ...

Temporal Production and Visuospatial Processing

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 2005
Current models of prospective timing hypothesize that estimated duration is influenced either by the attentional load or by the short-term memory requirements of a concurrent nontemporal task. In the present study, we addressed this issue with four dual-task experiments. In Exp. 1, the effect of memory load on both reaction time and temporal production

Multiobjective Optimization of Temporal Processes

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 2010
This paper presents a dynamic predictive-optimization framework of a nonlinear temporal process. Data-mining (DM) and evolutionary strategy algorithms are integrated in the framework for solving the optimization model. DM algorithms learn dynamic equations from the process data.

Temporal integration for array processing

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
This paper deals with the study of the performance of array processings in the presence of moving sources. A simplified model of the spatial frequencies of a moving source is derived for the first time. It allows one to obtain analytical formulation of the variance of the estimated source bearings and of the probability of detection.

THE NEURAL BASIS OF TEMPORAL PROCESSING

Annual Review of Neuroscience, 2004
▪ Abstract  A complete understanding of sensory and motor processing requires characterization of how the nervous system processes time in the range of tens to hundreds of milliseconds (ms). Temporal processing on this scale is required for simple sensory problems, such as interval, duration, and motion discrimination, as well as complex forms of ...
