Face processing in the temporal lobe

2022
Face perception is a socially important but complex process with many stages and many facets. There is substantial evidence from many sources that it involves a large extent of the temporal lobe, from the ventral occipitotemporal cortex and superior temporal sulci to anterior temporal regions.

Temporal pattern processing in songbirds

Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 2014
Understanding how the brain perceives, organizes and uses patterned information is directly related to the neurobiology of language. Given the present limitations, such knowledge at the scale of neurons, neural circuits and neural populations can only come from non-human models, focusing on shared capacities that are relevant to language processing ...

Processing of uncertainty temporal relations

Journal of Computer Science and Technology, 1996
A kind of classification on temporal relations of propositions is presented. By introducing temporal approaching relation, a new temporal logic based on time-point and time-interval is proposed, which can describe uncertain temporal relations. Finally, some properties of temporal proposition under uncertain relations are proposed.

Temporal Information Processing and Psychopathology

Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1975
Prior studies showed impaired temporal discrimination by schizophrenic and neurologic patients reflected in decreased information transmission. This report describes a study of 8 more carefully diagnosed schizophrenic patients, separating those with neurologic signs.

Clustering of temporal event processes

International Journal of Geographical Information Science, 2013
A temporal point process is a sequence of points, each representing the occurrence time of an event. Each temporal point process is related to the behavior of an entity. As a result, clustering of temporal point processes can help differentiate between entities, thereby revealing patterns of behaviors.

Stochastic processes and temporal rules

2006 IEEE International Conference on Granular Computing, 2006
This article tries to give an answer to a fundamental question in temporal data mining: "Under what conditions a temporal rule extracted from an up-to-date temporal data keeps its cofidence/support on future data". A possible solution is given by using, on the one hand, a temporal logic formalism which allows the definition of the main notions (event ...

Verifying temporal properties of processes

2006
Many interesting concurrent systems have infinite state spaces: examples include concurrent while programs; Petri Nets; CCS (or CSP) processes with value passing. All of these examples can be interpreted operationally as infinite labelled transition systems, structures of the form (7 ~, { --% : a E L }) where 7 ~ is a set of points (states, markings ...

Temporal processing with volatile memristors

2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS2013), 2013
Short-term synaptic plasticity (STP) is a mechanism identified in brain systems according to which the effective connection strength (synaptic strength) between two neurons varies dynamically with recent communication history. As a consequence, the amplitude of the post-synaptic potential in response to a single pre-synaptic event, so-called “spike ...

Temporal Information Processing in Schizophrenia

Archives of General Psychiatry, 1973
Time judgment by unselected schizophrenic patients was studied with measures of potential and transmitted information. Schizophrenic and healthy subjects judged lights or sounds as more or less than a clock second, or as long or short with category scales using two ranges of durations.

Temporal Processing

2014
This chapter introduces approaches to the processing of time-related constructs in natural language. It covers information extraction systems that can interpret time expressions and create a chronology of events in a narrative, as well as systems that can generate such expressions and render an ordering of events in a fluent discourse.
