A Method of Water Body Extraction Based on Multiscale Feature and Global Context Information

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
Water body extraction is an essential mission in the field of semantic segmentation of remote sensing images. It plays a significant role in natural disaster prevention, water resources utilization, hydrological monitoring, and other territories.

Probabilistic Information Modulates the Timed Response Inhibition Deficit in Aging Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2019
How interval timing is affected by aging constitutes one of the contemporary research questions. There is however a limited number of studies that investigate this research question in animal models of aging.

Impact of Radiation Therapy on Physical and Psychosocial Health of Adolescents and Young Adults: A Joint Report From the Children's Oncology Group AYA and Radiation Oncology Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rates of cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA), age 15–39 years, are increasing. Consequently, radiation oncologists are treating more AYAs who have diagnoses spanning both pediatric and adult practices. Compared to pediatric and older adult patients, AYAs face a unique set of challenges.

Differential effects of top-down crossmodal attention on subjective timing of semantic and syntactic violations

open access: yesScientific Reports
Prior knowledge violations about the world’s consistency can distort subjective time perception. Scenes containing contextually irrelevant objects (i.e., semantic violations) are typically underestimated in duration (i.e., perceived shorter), whereas ...

Research on Cross-Sensor Remote Sensing Image Super-Resolution Method Based on Diffusion Models

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
In remote sensing image (RSI) super-resolution (SR), traditional deep learning methods have made remarkable progress. However, these methods struggle to handle the complex mapping between cross-sensor images.

Modelling accuracy and variability of motor timing in treated and untreated Parkinson’s disease and healthy controls

open access: yesFrontiers in Integrative Neuroscience, 2011
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is characterised by difficulty with the timing of movements. Data collected using the synchronization-continuation paradigm, an established motor timing paradigm, have produced varying results but with most studies finding ...

Robust temporal processing of news [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 38th Annual Meeting on Association for Computational Linguistics - ACL '00, 2000
We introduce an annotation scheme for temporal expressions, and describe a method for resolving temporal expressions in print and broadcast news. The system, which is based on both hand-crafted and machine-learnt rules, achieves an 83.2% accuracy (F-measure) against hand-annotated data.

Bone and Soft Tissue Neoplasms in Infants Versus Older Children: A Report From the Cancer in Young People in Canada Program

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Infant bone and soft tissue neoplasms present distinct clinical challenges and lack large‐scale data to inform treatment decisions. This study aims to characterize bone and soft tissue neoplasms in infants in Canada and to compare their outcomes with those of older pediatric patients.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Temporal and speech processing skills in normal hearing individuals exposed to occupational noise

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2012
Prolonged exposure to high levels of occupational noise can cause damage to hair cells in the cochlea and result in permanent noise-induced cochlear hearing loss.
