PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Multi-Time Resolution Analysis of Speech

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2015
How speech signals are analyzed and represented remains a foundational challenge both for cognitive science and neuroscience. A growing body of research, employing various behavioral and neurobiological experimental techniques, now points to the ...

On Temporal Logic and Signal Processing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present Time-Frequency Logic (TFL), a new specification formalism for real-valued signals that combines temporal logic properties in the time domain with frequency-domain properties. We provide a property checking framework for this formalism and illustrate its expressive power in defining and recognizing properties of musical pieces.

A role for eIF5A in translational control of stress‐inducible proteins in multiple myeloma cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of eIF5A rewires thapsigargin‐mediated endoplasmic reticulum stress responses in multiple myeloma cells by selective translation of mRNA transcripts, consequently dampening thapsigargin‐induced unfolded protein response (UPR) activation and shifting the balance from induction of apoptosis toward cell survival and proliferation.

Temporal processing in the basal ganglia.

open access: yesNeuropsychology, 1998
This study investigated the role of the basal ganglia in timing operations. Nondemented, medicated Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and controls were tested on 2 motor-timing tasks (paced finger tapping at a 300- or 600-ms target interval), 2 time perception tasks (duration perception wherein the interval between the standard tone pair was 300 or 600 ...

Extracellular matrix remodeling and immune reprogramming drive residual tumor progression of liver cancer after incomplete microwave ablation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Incomplete microwave ablation (iMWA) of liver cancer triggers a biphasic progression in residual tumors. At Day 3, the microenvironment is characterized by acute inflammatory responses and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling. By Day 14, a profound shift occurs toward oncogenic signal transduction and immunosuppression, marked by macrophage ...

Sadness is unique: Neural processing of emotions in speech prosody in musicians and non-musicians

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2015
Musical training has been shown to have positive effects on several aspects of speech processing, however, the effects of musical training on the neural processing of speech prosody conveying distinct emotions are yet to be better understood.

Unique circulating miRNAome signatures captured with distinct molecular states in Lynch syndrome and sporadic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNA profiles distinguish nonmalignant Lynch syndrome from cancer‐associated Lynch syndrome, sporadic colorectal cancer, and healthy controls. Age‐stratified analysis reveals disease‐specific regulatory states, and a six‐miRNA panel shows concordant separation in an independent colorectal tissue cohort.

An inquiry into the process of temporal orientation

open access: yesActa Psychologica, 1976
Abstract A recent study (Koriat and Fischhoff 1974) in which subjects were asked to respond to the question ‘What day is today?’ revealed ease of day retrieval to be a curvilinear function of the day of the week, with greatest difficulty being encountered in midweek.
