The Impact of the UK Temporary Employment Industry in Assisting Agency Workers since the Year 2000
This thesis is concerned with assessing the impact of the UK temporary employment industry in assisting agency workers since the year 2000, and incorporates four research questions: (1) To what extent have temporary employment agencies provided ...

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

Temporary Agency Work and Labor Misallocation
user firms has received limited theoretical attention. This paper seeks to address this gap byfocusing on temporary agency work. We develop a two-period search model in which firmscan hire workers directly or through a temporary work agency (TWA). The agency acts asa matchmaker, providing flexibility by spreading termination risks across firms and ...

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Waveguide Photoactuators: Materials, Fabrication, and Applications
Waveguide photoactuators convert guided light into mechanical motion. Their tethered‐flexible design enables minimally invasive surgery and confined‐space robotics. This review aims to guide materials selection, device design, and system integration, accelerating the transition of waveguide photoactuators from laboratory prototypes to versatile ...
