Investigating learning in construction organizations

open access: yes, 2005
Learning in construction has received scant attention within extant theories of generic organizational learning. One of the apparently distinct characteristics of construction organization is that its business mainly runs through projects.

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

Transient and Flexible Work Lives Liminal Organizations and the Reflexive Habitus

open access: yes, 2014
Current accounts of changing forms of work and organization highlight that organizations increasingly integrate market mechanisms and that workers are increasingly required to pursue the ideal of an enterprising self (Storey, Salaman, and Platman 2005 ...

Development of a Human 3D Immune‐Competent Neurovascular Model Enabling Time‐Resolved Monitoring of Neuroinflammatory Dynamics and Neuroimmune Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuroinflammation alters blood–brain barrier integrity and contributes to neurological disorders, yet existing models lack human immune complexity. This study presents a 3D, immune‐responsive platform that reconstructs key neurovascular components and enables real‐time monitoring.

Sticky Yet Slippery: Molecular Ordering Reconciles Bubble‐Surface Affinity With Ultralow Friction at the Nanoscale

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering the molecular order and thickness of PDMS layers, we reconcile the stickiness and slipperiness during bubble transport. AFM measurements and MD simulations further reveal how these nanoscale architectures tune hydrophobic interaction FHB and friction force f.

Natural Resistance to Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome in Estrildid Finches Reveals Macrophage GPR183 as a Potential Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ovarian macrophage depletion reverses OHSS resistance in estrildid finches and exacerbates OHSS symptoms in rats. Activating macrophage GPR183 alleviates OHSS by reducing pro‐inflammatory factors, increasing immunomodulatory molecules, remodeling CD44/SDC4‐mediated communication, and restoring immune homeostasis.

Studying organizations as temporary

open access: yes
This article reflects upon the methodological pessimism that sometimes plagues students of organizations. In particular pessimism seems to strike us when we try to get to grips with the incessant transformations of organizations--transformations that ...
